Must Visit Waterfalls In India

India is blessed with the most beautiful mountain ranges, lakes, rivers, and landscapes. Owing to the heavy rainfall in most areas, streams and waterfalls are commonly found. In this tropical country, the sight of water streaming down huge rocks and hills is quite exciting. There are plenty of waterfalls all across India, and they are quite the attractive feature for tourists from around the world. Below is a list of amazing waterfalls that you must visit when in India.

1. Vazhachal Falls, Kerala

Situated in the Thissur district of Kerala, Vazhachal falls are vast spread and deep, with the gushing sounds creating a melodious atmosphere.

Small bridges leading up to different parts of the falls give a panoramic view of the pretty surrounding the falls are located in. The route leading up to the falls is also a sight to see.

Tall trees and a long, plain road that goes around the hill add the perfect charm, and only increase the excitement to envision the fast flowing waterfalls ahead. Kerala, being rich in natural aspects makes the experience worthwhile.

A good example of the hanging valley falls, Jonha falls are located in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand. Falls drop from a height of 141 feet, and one has to walk down about 700 steps to get to see the nick point falls caused by rejuvenation. There is a temple of the Buddha in the rest house for tourists, which gives a great view of the falls. Tourists are found in a large number due to the unusual nature of the Jonha waterfalls, along with the fact that the surrounding is also quite serene and peaceful.

3. Shivanasamudra Falls, Karnataka

Emerging from the Kaveri River and located in the Mandaya district of Karnataka, Shivanasamudra falls are segmented in structure. There are adjacent waterfalls through the cliffs and the divisions between them, rendering a pretty view. The vast and gushing falls are an interesting sight for the visitors; and are very beautiful to look at. The best route to reach is a three hour drive from Bangalore, also a great view of the landscapes on either sides of the road.

4. Kiliyur Falls, Tamil Nadu

The Shervaroyan Hill range houses the famous Kiliyur falls of the eastern ghats in Tamil Nadu. Emerging from the Yeracud Lake, Kiliyur falls are located in the midst of a tranquil environment. The vast spread greenery and tall, swaying trees provide the perfect ambience for these furious waterfalls. From the Yeracud Lake, one has to walk down the steps of the hill to reach the start of the falls, which are in a territory of their own with the fast flowing water and picturesque surrounding.

5. Meenmutty Falls, Kerala

In the Trivandrum city of Kerala, Meenmutty falls are situated close to the Neyyar Reservior. Reaching these waterfalls is an adventurous expedition in itself. Since there is no route for using a vehicle, tourists have to go for a trek to get to the falls. At the end of the trek when the falls come into view, it makes up for all of the time spent in the expedition, because the sight is an extremely beautiful one.

6. Ninai Falls, Gujarat

Located in the beautiful forests of Dediapada in Gujarat, Ninai falls are found close to the city of Surat, from where the transport is easiest to this destination. The Shoolpaneshwar Wildlife Sanctuary is found close to the Dediapada forests, which is also a tourist spot aside from the lovely Ninai Falls. The greenery around the falls is striking and eye-catching, rendering a tranquil atmosphere when one is there.

7. Suruli Falls, Tamil Nadu

Starting from the Meghamalai mountain range, Suruli waterfalls are found in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu. The distinct feature of these falls is the two stage division where the water drops from a height of 150 feet into a pool, and then continues towards the next level where it falls even forcefully. During the monsoon, Suruli waterfalls become the most sought after tourist destination since the view that is offered is absolutely spectacular.

8. Pandavgad Falls, Maharashtra

The view of the mountains from the Mumbai-Pune highway is a sight in itself. But these mountains are the home of the quaint Pandavgad falls found in the Thane region of Maharashtra. The gushing white waterfalls emerging from a gorge are amid the looming mountains and hills that give the ideal ambience for a tourist. During the monsoon the falls get particularly heavy and provide a striking view of these iconic waterfalls.

The luscious rainfall that India receives in some parts makes up for these beautiful waterfalls scattered all across the country. The river tributaries and lakes breaking up into these cracks as waterfalls attract a lot of tourists every year, and are a very refreshing experience.
