4 Ways to Enjoy Sandbox

Alviera’s very own Sandbox in Porac, Pampanga is, well, a gigantic sandbox that the kids and kids-at-heart can truly enjoy. Dubbed as the North’s newest adventure destination, Sandbox is built with one-of-a-kind rides and activities that will surely delight the venturesome. True enough, our ever-adventurous selves led us to explore the place. Here’s how to enjoy Sandbox.

1) We swing our hearts out

You read it right. We ride the giant swing, which stands 10 meters high above the ground. The lever will pull you up above and hurl you in an instant; the instant drop is insane it’s as if you’ll land straight on the ground. All you can do is scream. And, the back and forth movement do little to help you recover from the drop.

2) We challenge ourselves to walk on air literally

Yes, Sandbox features an all-net-and-rope walkways that will challenge every person’s endurance, balance, and agility. We climb, crawl, gallop and swing up to the end of the walkway. While there are park attendants who can only do so much in encouraging you to finish the walkway, you are all by yourself. It’s either you give up and give way to other challengers or finish the course.

3) We experience Avatar for a day

Well, it is not the Avatar that you are thinking of. Instead, we are talking about the roller coaster-cum-zip line which is one of the most prominent attractions in Sandbox. It’s not your usual zip line because of the zigzags here and there. Dubbed as Asia’s first roller coaster zip line, the ride is something that you’ve never experienced before. There are drops and sharp turns that make the two-minute ride even more thrilling.

4) We defy gravity ala Spiderman

Another important feature is the five-storey structure that houses all the gravity-defying activities such as wall climbing and rappelling. It also features the free fall with its jump-off point at the fifth level. Such a structure is specifically designed for the thrill seekers, and not all of us are the bravest of hearts.

Further, Sandbox also features ATV and mini-ATV rides although we didn’t dare to ride one. The ride takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the stops you’ll be making, that is. Anyhow, the riders can explore the Pasig Potrero Rive that leads to the trail going to Mt. Pinatubo. An ATV ride costs around Php2,500 inclusive of the gasoline, a short tutorial, and tour guide.

Also, just recently, the management added a new attraction – an outdoor archery. So, if you want to unleash your inner Katniss Everdeen, you might as well explore this activity. It is mostly for the newbie archers although it won’t hurt to learn how to use the bow and arrow.

We’d surely be coming back to Alviera and, more specifically, Sandbox now that the Alviera Country Club is in its development stage. The country club features all new sets of amenities from to pools to sports facilities to wellness facilities. Now that’s a new list of things to enjoy on our next visit.
