The past couple of years had almost everyone going crazy over high-end touchscreen smartphones from Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC, and even Lenovo. Performance- and features-wise, there’s no denying the versatility, flexibility, and awesomeness of those phones. The iPhone is undoubtedly the leader of the pack, but the past years saw Samsung’s S-series giving Apple’s flagship smartphone a run for its money.
Torque Droidz Atom S
This is probably because unlike iPhones that run solely on IOS, a special operating system that’s exclusive to Apple, Samsung and most smartphone brands run on the less-complicated and universal Android OS. Android-powered phones are easier to work with and compatible with more apps.
However, the best selling point of some Android-powered smartphones is the price. Unlike Apple’s iPhone that costs an arm and a leg, many Android phones cost a fraction of the iPhone’s price. One such smartphone is the Torque Droidz Atom S, which costs no more than Php 3,000 but is loaded with awesome features. It somewhat looks like a mini Samsung S3, too.
Torque Affordable Adroid Smarphone
I’d like to think of it as the “smartphone of the masses” if only for its very affordable price. If you already have a high-end phone, the Torque Droidz Atom S could be a wonderful backup phone.
Why should you consider buying this phone? Let us count the ways:
The Torque Droidz Atom S runs on Android Jellybean version 4.2.2 and offers dual SIM functionality, with each SIM slot able to handle 3G/HSPA+ connectivity.
Just as it is with most Android-powered smartphones, the Torque Droidz Atom S has the following connectivity features: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi hotspot/tethering, Bluetooth, and GPS. It also boasts of three types of sensors – gravity, proximity, and light sensors.
This smartphone boasts of a 1GHz Dual-Core Mediatek MT6572 Processor coupled with Mali 400-MP GPU (graphics processing unit). Amazingly, the dual-core CPU performs efficiently without doing much damage to the smartphone battery’s life. In fact, it makes for an enhanced user experience. I can’t say that the GPU is awesome, but considering the price of the Droidz Atom S, it performs wonderfully.
Unlike most high-end smartphones, the Droidz Atom S only has 512MB RAM and 4GB ROM. However, its external storage is expandable to up to 32GB (micro SD).
It features a 4-inch capacitive display with a WVGA 480×800 resolution. For its price, you shouldn’t expect it to employ the IPS technology that normally provides a more uniform color reproduction. Nevertheless, its screen imaging is remarkably sharp and colors come out vividly.
Torque Droidz Atom S Review
This smartphone has a 5-megapixel rear camera that can shoot a 720p, high-definition video. If you love to take selfies, you’d be glad to know that it also has a 2-megapixel front camera. The only downside to the Droidz Atom S’ camera is the missing autofocus feature, which should be very handy when you’re taking close-up shots (I’m not sure if it’s something I have yet to explore or if the feature is really missing).
I have mentioned earlier that the Torque Droidz Atom S looks like a mini S3. It has a glossy back panel and chrome trimming around its body. The power button sits comfortably on the top edge of the smartphone alongside a 3.5mm headset jack. The volume rocker is at the upper right side while the micro USB charging port is at the left. The phone comes with a 1600mAh battery.
You don’t need to spend a fortune for a highly functional smartphone. In fact this smartphone is just Php 2,899 and it is widely available in major Malls in Metro Manila. These days, practicality is the name of the game. Hence, if you want to treat yourself to a premium smartphone with nifty features without breaking the bank, try the Torque Droidz Atom S.
