Sinulog Festival 2010 to open on Friday January 8, 2010

Sinulog Festival 2010 will officially open on Friday January 8,2010 with an opening parade which will start from the Basilica del Sto. Nino to Fuente Osmena then to the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC).

This years Sinulog Festival will the the 30th edition of one of the countries grandest festival. There will be 16 dance groups that will perform in the official Sinulog Street Dancing route using authentic Sinulog dance beat for the Festival opening.

 

Cebu's Sinulog Festival

One interesting addition in this years celebration will be the Sinulog Idol that will showcase Cebuano talents from 15 – 25 years of age. Finalists and winners will be announced on January 15 in Cebu City Sports Complex.

A total of P300,000 is up for grabs for Sinulog Idol 2010 contestants and there’s also a possible recording contract for the grand prize winner of the said singing contest.

Cebu city Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is expected to dance again in this years Sinulog Fiesta in which she will be joining Tabuelan’s Ani-Anihan festival dancers.

According to reports, most Cebu Hotels and Resorts are now almost fully booked for the Sinulog week. If you are planning to visit Cebu for the yearly Sinulog Festivities, make sure to book your hotel and air ticket ahead of time to get cheaper rates.
