Fans of tennis superstar Maria Sharapova in the Philippines went into frenzy when they saw Instagram pictures of her basking under the glorious sun of what is believed to be Amanpulo, Palawan.

On one of the shots she posted on photo sharing website Instagram, she is seen wearing a black bandeau bikini swimming in the clear blue waters of Palawan. She captioned the pic “Vacation in one picture. I’ll see you soon #Philippines #nofilter”. As of posting, it has more than 12,500 likes.
Another snap shot of the 27-year old beautiful and leggy tennis player shows her sitting on the sand with the beautiful Palawan sunset as her backdrop. It had the caption “Some of the most beautiful #sunsets I have ever seen. #exploringtheislands”. This shows that Maria Sharapova is truly enjoying her stay in Palawan.

There was also a picture of her plane’s propeller before it landed on the island where she and her friends were staying. Another Instagram post shows her walking onto a winding path surrounded by trees. She captioned this with “A winding path that leads to a delicious lunch. #secretpath”.
ABS-CBN host Dyan Castillejo interviewed Maria Sharapova and asked her how she knew about Palawan. The stunner answered that she learned about the place through the internet and her interactions with friends online. She also said, “It’s a trip I wanted to take for many years. So I kind of went around these islands with my friends. It was really fun.”

Sharapova also added that the Filipino people’s hospitality made her trip even more satisfying.
“The people were so generous, it made the trip so great.”
The five-time Grand Slam tennis champion is currently here in the country for the inaugural IPTL tournament that started yesterday, 28 November 2014.
Maria Sharapova is considered by many as the “Tennis Queen”. The Russian tennis superstar is ranked Number 2 by the Women’s Tennis Association last 6 October 2014. And today, she is here in the Philippines for the first day of the International Premier Tennis League with her Manila Mavericks teammate two-time Grand Slam titlist and reigning Olympic champ Andy Murray. The team is headed by playing coach Filipino tennis star Treat Huey.
