Odiongan Travel Guide: Travel Requirements, Things to Do, and More

How to Travel from Manila to Romblon

Romblon: Odiongan Travel Guide

Romblon is full of serene beaches, flowing rivers, and rich wildlife and offers heart-pumping activities like snorkeling, scuba diving, and trekking. One of the stops to reach Romblon, Odiongan, is just as beautiful as other parts of Romblon. Being a small municipality, there isn’t much to do and fewer accommodations. With waterfalls hidden in the municipality and beaches on the edges of the island, Odiongan is a side-trip summer destination that can be easily explored within a day.

Best Time to visit Odiongan

The best time to visit Odiongan is April to July during the summer. This is also the peak season of the municipality, so try visiting between November to March when the weather is cooler.

What to wear

Visitors during the summer should bring sunscreen, sun protection gear, and breathable clothing. Don’t forget to bring a set of change of clothes after chasing the waterfalls and swimming gear when checking the beaches out.

How to get to Odiongan

From Manila, visitors can take a bus bound for Batangas Pier through JAM or DLTB. Travel time is 2 hours, depending on the traffic. There are JAM and DLTB bus terminals in LRT Buendia, Alabang South Station, and Cubao.

At the Batangas Pier, visitors should head to the 2Go Travel and Montenegro Shipping Lines ticket booth and buy a return ticket in advance. Visitors should bring their food and water on the ferry.

Things to do and see

Odiongan Public Plaza

What’s a summer vacation without a photo to remember? In the public plaza is a giant sign with the words “I Love Odiongan” that visitors flock to at nighttime. The plaza has a more peaceful atmosphere, and at night, when the lights are turned on and the Odiongan marker is lit up, the plaza is a great place to take a breather and have a moment of stillness.

Mainit Falls

A local favorite for children and teenagers, Mainit Falls, is named after the hot spring found upriver. There are cliff diving spots from the falls where younger children love jumping. “Mainit” is Tagalog for “hot”.

Garing Falls

Located at the heart of Progreso Weste, Garing Falls is a tranquil, two-layered fall where most locals go to beat the heat. More famous amongst locals than tourists, the serene vibe of the falls and the trees enshrouding the falls are great for those looking for a private moment.

Poctoy Beach

Poctoy Beach is a great relaxing place, with a few restaurants nearby. The sandy beach may not be as white as the other beaches in Romblon, but the tranquility it offers at nighttime can clear anyone’s mind of stress. The beach is located near most of the accommodations, so visitors can easily walk from their hotel to Poctoy Beach.
