Orchard Road is considered as Singapore’s Shopping district and it is where most of the New Malls in Singapore are located. This place has always been a favorite place of mine not because this is where Lucky Plaza where fellow Filipinos always frequent but because this is the perfect place if you really love shopping.
ION Orchard Mall
After visiting Orchard Central Mall, we headed to ION Orchard – another architectural marvel which was recently opened last October 2009. Costing just over 2 billion dollars, this super mall is located right in the center of Orchard Road and is currently one of the best designed Mall in Singapore’s prime shopping strip.
Catering to high-end shoppers, ION Orchard’s retailers are mostly top notch like Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Valentino and other world renowned brands like celebrity label Diane Von Furstenberg.
TWG Tea Salon & Boutique
One real superb attraction that I saw in the ION Orchard shopping mall was the huge media wall made up of multi sensory canvas which serves as a fluid canvas for multimedia art and ‘live’ telecasts of events held within the complex, such as runway shows and themed events.
One of the most interesting component of the mall was the ION art gallery – displaying exhibitions of various kinds of arts and cultural events. This runs through out the year and I am looking forward to visit this mall once again to checkout some of their special events.
If you are looking for fine dining restaurants, a comprehensive selection of around 27 restaurants are available in this mall including shops that sells gourmet grocery products.
Shopping in Singapore
Our visit to the mall was cut short since we are running out of time and we still have a lot of places to visit. I’ll definitely visit ION again next year to checkout other retailers and shops ranging from art to technology, from food to fashion and celebration space to hang out areas.
You can easily reach ION Orchard by taking Orchard MRT or you may consider walking if you are staying in a hotel near Orchard road:)
