This page provides the updated way on how to do so – whether you are in the Philippines or you are presently living and working abroad.

Passport Renewal Procedure for OFWs Presently in the Philippines

There is no need to schedule an appointment online through the website of the Department of Foreign Affairs. All you have to do is to walk into the DFA NCR Central (located in the Robinsons Galleria). Head to the OFW Passport Renewal Center. They process documents starting 8 AM through 12 NN – so, there is no need to queue before 6 AM.

Whether you are seafarers or land-based OFWs, it is a necessity to renew your passports within 12 months of arrival in the country.

Requirements (for Seafarers and Land-based OFWs)

Seafarer
  • Valid Seaman’s Book
  • Philippine Passport
  • SRC ID
  • Two valid Philippine Government Issued IDs
Land-based OFW
  • Proof of Overseas Employment
  • Philippine Passport
  • Two valid IDs (issued by the Philippine Government)

Procedure for OFWs Presently Working and Living Abroad

The good news is, even if you are staying abroad and your passport is about to expire, you need not go home to the Philippines to renew the document.

To process your passport renewal, head to the Philippine Embassy or Consulate General in your host country or your present state. Note, however, that you need to set a schedule with the embassy or consular.

Of course, there is a need to make sure that you have with you the original and photocopies of the following important documents:

  • e-Passport
  • Accomplished Passport Renewal Form
  • Two valid government-issued IDs
  • Cash for processing fees

How much is passport renewal in the Philippines?

The passport renewal fees will depend on where you renewed your passport, here are  the schedule of fees and processing period:

Aseana and Consular Offices within Metro Manila

  • Regular processing (15 working days) – P950.00
  • Expedited processing (6 business days) – P1,200.00

Consular Offices outside Metro Manila

  • Regular processing (15 working days) – P950.00
  • Expedited processing (7 business days) – P1,200.00

Foreign Service Posts/Embassies outside the Philippines

  • Regular processing (28-60 days) – $60.00

Additional fees for lost and mutilated passports:

  • Passport Applications filed in the Philippines – P350.00
  • Passport Applications filed overseas – prices may vary depending on the Embassy/Foreign Service Post

In case you lost your passport, there will be an additional 15 business days clearing period.
