The Mini Suites Eton Tower Review: A hotel oozing with a refreshing vibe and welcomes newcomers with exuberant hospitality

I love staycations. Who doesn’t, right? Recently, along with a fellow blogger, I was invited for a one-night stay at one of the finest hotels in Makati. Although I was still a bit tired from an early morning flight to Manila, I’m glad I was able to fix my errands and made it for a late afternoon check-in at the hotel – at the Mini Suites Eton Tower.

The last time I set foot on this hotel was a few years ago when I first met Nas – the famous vlogger behind the Nas Daily Vlog. This is where he stayed on his first visit to the Philippines. It was newly opened back then but what makes this place nostalgic is its location. My very first 8-5 job was located on the same block, right next to Rufino Tower along Ayala Avenue. The area has completely changed, I remember the days when we always cross the street when most of the stoplights are not yet in place and the elevated walkways are not yet completed.

Hotel Location

The hotel is strategically located at the heart of Makati City -making it more convenient for guests to have direct access to Makati’s interconnected network of walkways, easily unlocking the city’s day-to-night offering. They even named their hotel as a gateway to the city.

It’s also walking distance to shopping malls, chic restaurants, educational institutions, corporate headquarters, and main thoroughfares.

So, this one’s a great place if you have lots of meetings scheduled and want to cap off your day with a drink or shopping in the metro.

The Mini Suites has so much character, perfect for its busy location. For visiting guests, it offers the comforts of home in an unfamiliar new city. For busy professionals, it is a restful chapter in an activity-filled itinerary. For young travelers, it offers quality hotel amenities, security and friendly staff at an affordable price. And for all guests, it is an enchanting private space that opens up to the vibrant public sphere.

Arrival Experience

With all the non-stop traveling for almost two decades, packing and unpacking bags have already become my expertise. Few hours after unloading my used clothes and bringing it to the nearest laundry shop, I found myself a few steps away from the lobby of Mini Suites Eton Tower in Makati City. I met the staff and they offered me coffee while waiting for a fellow blogger.

The lobby was crowded when I was about to check-in. Business-wise, a full packed lobby means nothing but good business and I couldn’t agree more. Even though it was crowded, everything seems to be organized I was surprised at how fast they were able to provide my room key.

We did a quick tour and visited some of the hotel facilities but we were not able to check other room categories since the hotel was fully booked.

Rooms

I stayed at a MINI SOLO room, the smallest room category at 14 sqm. The room has a single-sized bed with a soft cottony pillow. Why so small? It was called MINI for the same reason but you must agree, Sometimes, big surprises come in small packaging and that’s my impression about my room at The Mini Suites Eton Tower.

Just like any top-notch hotels in foreign lands, they keep it minimalistic yet comfortable, small but very well-furnished. Everything is within reach and has kept its guests’ comfort always in mind.

There are an LED TV, a telephone and a luggage rack at the corner of the bedroom.

The room also has a mini-kitchen, sink, personal ref and small cabinets. The bathroom has a glass divider that separates the toilet and the shower area.

I was a bit disappointed the moment I found out that there’s no work desk inside the room but after calling the concierge, they provided me a foldable computer table. So there goes a happy camper!

For a quick coffee fix, they also have instant coffee, tea, and free bottled waters but I was surprised they don’t have an electric kettle inside the room. Again, I called the concierge and it was delivered in a swift!

They also provide a clean bath and hand towels and everything smelled fresh. Inside the bathroom, they also provide basic toiletries, like bath gel/shampoo a pair of toothbrushes and a hairdryer. For the price point, the hotel is really a bang for the buck.

If you are a digital nomad like me, You’ll be happy to know that they do offer a fast and FREE WIFI. It’s also fast enough to watch your favorite NETFLIX series.

Food

The hotel does not have an in-house restaurant but there’s so much food outlet available inside the building.

After checking in, I enjoyed our afternoon snacks at Dean and Deluca. We sampled some of their bestselling salads, sandwiches and of course their coffee. You should try their Slow Roast Lambs and Kebab Plate for mains or you can opt for their amazing burgers – the Kansas BBQ and Lamb Kofta Burger to name a few. Pizzas also taste great here at Dean and Deluca. Try their Roasted Chicken Pizza!

Right next to the hotel entrance, there’s an Alishan Milktea outlet for milk tea lovers. They’re known for their milk tea latte and boba milk teas. Other customers also love their fruit teas and iced brewed teas.

On my second day, I had breakfast at The Pigpen located on the ground floor. For a fixed price, they offer a breakfast buffet with a decent selection of breakfast staples. They have a salad and bread station and for those who love a load of protein, you can order eggs cooked your way. There’s also rice with a variety of dishes to pair with. For drinks, they have juices, tea and coffee included.

For lunch, I tried Moshi-Koshi located on their second floor with access to the elevated walkways. Moshi-Koshi offers affordable yet satisfying Japanese staples. I had Ebi tempura and Japanese beef curry.

After my hotel check-out, I had to kill time for my early dinner meeting. I’m glad there’s Bo’s Coffee on the second floor. The coffee shop is quite huge and has enough space for people who wants to work and enjoy a cup of coffee.

At The Mini Suites, the choice is yours.

We put you in the center of all the sights and sounds of the city as you enjoy first-class accommodations accompanied by a wide selection of great restaurants and retail shops just an elevator ride away from your room.

Aside from the nearby restos, you can also enjoy their Fitness Gym open for 24 hours. It’s equipped with 5 treadmills, 3 bicycles, 1 elliptical machine, free weights, and of course, a restroom.

If you want to take a quick dip, they also have a separate swimming pool for kids and adults.

Another great facility here at the Mini Suites Eton Tower is their meeting room/ boardroom that can accommodate small groups of 10 to seminars of 50 persons.

When it comes to departure, everything was also seamless from claiming the ID down to asking on how was my stay was.

Room Rates

While others may have the impression that staycation may reach up to Php5,000 per night, surprisingly here at the Mini Suites Eton Tower, accommodation starts from around Pho 2,000for Mini Single / Mini Double to around P5K+ for the Family—but you could get even better rates when you book online!

The Verdict

Not only you can book a room with a price range from Php 1900 to Php 6900, but one expects the utmost comfort and security at the premises. Although there’s no in-house restaurant in the hotel, I enjoyed their facilities from the swimming pool and their gym with top-notch equipment. Another reason I liked about the property is its proximity to hospitals, malls, and restaurants via their Makati Elevated Walkway. Everything is within reach – where not all luxurious hotels can offer.
