Henann Regency Resort and Spa at the Forefront of Boracay Hospitality

“It’s always summer here when it’s not raining,” I recall mentioning this to a friend from overseas. And true enough, amidst scattered rains in the country, it is challenging to pass up on a trip to Boracay even in September. I have never been to Boracay Island but I have heard so much about its pristine white sand beaches, leisure activities and night life.

Bloggers and friends from the media were invited by the Henann Group of Resorts for a 3 days, 2 nights stay in one of their resorts in the island. We flew from Manila to Kalibo onboard Cebu Pacific Air A320 which featured Henann Resort’s airline livery ad. Talk about private plane feels on my first trip to the island! Our group checked-in at the Henann Regency Resort and Spa (check hotel rates) (formerly Boracay Regency) located at the heart of Station 2. Neighboring hotels also by the Henann Resorts are Henann Lagoon and Henann Garden both in Station 2 with another, Henann Prime, set to open November 2016 in Station 1.

Henann Regency Resort and Spa has 3 main wings which include 3 swimming pools, convention and business centers, a mini shop, gym, a VIP lounge and the renowned Kai Spa. Learning about these made me feel like a kid eager to see all the sights. The amenities were enough to grant myself a staycation for the next three days but of course I would not want to miss visiting the white sand beaches of Boracay. Fortunately, the resort has a 125 meter long beachfront for guests who prefer the beauty of the outdoor.

Rooms

My room was a Premier Room by the North Wing offering a view of the pool and the nearby beach. It gave a cozy ambiance during the night and the right amount of sunshine to wake me up in the morning. Each Premier Room has 1 queen size bed and 1 single bed or 1 king size bed, a toilet and bath with shower and a tub, a vanity and writing desks and a lounge chair and ottoman.

Where to dine

Henann Regency Resort and Spa (read hotel reviews) has 4 restaurants conveniently located beach front offering different cuisines to satisfy your taste buds. Seabreeze Café is an all-day buffet featuring international cuisines. This restaurant is sought after by visitors to Boracay for its vast selection and richness of food. Head to Mesa if you are craving for Filipino food and Hap Chan Seafood Restaurant for authentic Chinese dining. Christina’s offers a fine dining experience and features Italian and Western cuisines. Guests can also grab a bite while lounging by the pool at the East Wing Pool Bar. And for visitors who want to experience Boracay nightlife, the Wave Bar and Lounge at the beachfront opens as early as 6pm until 3am.

Leisure time in style

There seems to be no dull moment at the Henann Regency. They have three pools to choose from and a gym and fitness center if you are intent on burning some calories before hitting the  beach. There is also the option of walking along the shore line, swimming by the beach or trying water activities.

Pools open at 8am although I saw a few lounging by the pool a bit early, probably securing their beach chairs. My room was overlooking the North Wing pool which was mostly patronized by vacationing families with kids. The laughter and excitement I heard until the evening (pools are until 10pm) were simply infectious. The East Wing pool is the largest and probably the most pictured pool in the resort. Rooms with direct pool access line the three sides while there is the pool bar on the other side.  This is the only pool at Henann Regency Resort and Spa (discounted rates) with a separate kiddie pool for kids, and well, kids at heart. Meanwhile, the Main Wing pool is rather serene ideal for a relaxing time by the water.

The Kai Spa

The Kai Spa is the perfect getaway for guests seeking a relaxing time amidst Boracay’s activities. They are open from 9am to 12mn and offer a wide range of massages, facials and hand and foot care. The spa has 11 Asian-inspired massage rooms, a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and a tea room. Alternatively, guests can request to schedule their massage at the comfort of their rooms. I tried the 90-minute Kai Signature massage which was just divine. I highly recommend it for people wanting to relieve neck, shoulders and back tension. It was the perfect end of day activity to usher a relaxing evening after a day’s worth of swimming and exploring.
