Espacio Verde Resort Review
As AirAsia Philippines launches its 16th domestic destination, Roxas City, we were given a chance to wander around and outside the capital of Capiz and check out what it has to offer. For this familiarization tour, we stayed at Espacio Verde Resort.
HOTEL LOCATION
Espacio Verde Resort is one of the best choices for accommodation in Capiz for many reasons. It’s only a 5-10-minute away drive from Roxas Airport and the city center. Literally meaning ‘green space’, this resort located along Dayao Road features lush and verdant greeneries surrounding their garden villas and offers a peaceful place to rest while enjoying a bit of luxury. Operating for more than a decade now, it cements itself as one of the pioneer hotels in the city of Roxas.
ARRIVAL EXPERIENCE
We arrived earlier before the check-in time and we were greeted with warm smiles and pleasantries by the resort staff. Their spirits set everyone’s mood great for starters. The lobby, with its high ceiling and wooden accents, gives off a vintage ambiance as the whole hotel is European-inspired in looks and feels.
The staff assisted everyone with their luggage and led the way to Abuelo, one of the resort restaurants beside the lobby where the booked guests usually have breakfast.
We had our breakfast here and then headed for a walking tour to see the rooms and the amenities. It’s already exciting to see huge, colorful slides, the pool, and the lagoon upon arrival. Like us, you’ll really be tempted to take lots of photos of this postcard-worthy resort, especially the row of date trees in the garden. After the tour, the front desk staff was ready to give our key cards away almost immediately, along with our Wi-Fi passwords.
ROOMS
Espacio Verde has Garden Villas which consist of a total of 23 rooms. Types of rooms include the Garden View Suites, Lagoon View Suites, Executive Suites, and the Bridal Suite for weddings and special occasions.
We stayed in a Garden View Suite with 2 queen-sized beds and the spacious room made us feel we were home away from home. It has a big balcony that faces their gardens filled with flowers and trees.
We easily got our sleep every night and all the basic amenities inside the room work in great condition – shower, toilet, air-conditioning, TV, and locks.
What I loved the most about the room is that it also includes extra amenities you wouldn’t normally see in most hotels or would still need to request – like iron clothes, a fridge, bathrobes, a drying rack for clothes outside, and even a coffee machine. From the lobby to the rooms, the Wi-Fi connection works excellent, too. Room service requests are also very prompt. Although the rooms are not new, they are well-maintained and they smell nice.
FOOD
The resort has 3 restaurants – Abuelo, Aquatico, and Veranda. Abuelo in the Garden Villas Clubhouse, designed with a statement of Spanish-Mediterranean inspiration, serves a Spanish-Filipino-infused menu and guests can choose to dine inside or on alfresco to enjoy the refreshing garden ambiance. I personally tried a few of their breakfast meals such as the Spanish Tortillas, Bangsilog, and Tapsilog and every plate came in big servings. As an iced coffee lover, I must say theirs is one of the best ones I’ve had.
Aquatico, on the other hand, sits beside the pool area so guests can easily grab something to eat after swimming. There’s also Veranda, located beside the lagoon, and provides an outdoor dining experience of platters and grilled food. If only we had more days to stay, we’d definitely try their specialties, too!
RESORT FACILITIES
You can stay long at Espacio Verde Resort and still never run out of things to do, especially with your loved ones. They have an interactive Water Play area for kids, a swimming pool with slides, and a lagoon for kayaking. If you need transport assistance to and from the airport and other places of interest, they have available shuttles for booking.
DEPARTURE
The check-out process was easy and trouble-free but saying goodbye to a cozy resort like this was difficult. The staff were always attentive to our needs and wants during our stay and until we climbed up our vans to head to the airport, their smiles never left their faces and proved that the service they give has always been genuine.
True to what it promises, Espacio Verde Resort really puts its guests close to nature. It’s a place to unwind and relax the day away when you’re in Capiz. If you’d like to go on tours, no matter how tiring it may get, you’ll be assured that you’ll get back to comfortable accommodation to rest and recharge.
