Dinagyang Festival ready to compete in Aliwan Fiesta 2012

More than its delicious food, Iloilo is also well known for it’s yearly festival called Dinagyang. This year, Iloilo will bring Ilonggo street dancers to Metro Manila for the annual Aliwan Fiesta on April 12 to 14, 2012.

Tribu Pan-ay will be performing a send-off parade today in Freedom Grandstand in Iloilo City. Tribu Pan-ay will face 20 other Aliwan Fiesta 2012 contingents from different regions nationwide for the P1-million prize money.

Charmaine Grace Deatras (Miss Iloilo Dinagyang) and Kimberly Diedrich (Ms. Iloilo Paraw Regatta) will also join Reyna ng Aliwan 2012. The grand parade of contingents will start 1:30 p.m. at the Quirino Grandstand going to the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex for the ultimate showdown in front of Aliw Theater on April 14.

Now on its 10th year, Aliwan Fiesta 2012 brings together champions of various cultural events all over the country in one big cultural extravaganza of street dancing, float design and beauty pageant. Dinagyang has won for two consecutive years with Tribu Pan-ay in 2011 and Tribu Paghidaet in 2010 declared Aliwan champions.
