The Original Buddy’s Restaurant in Lucban, Quezon
The quiet town of Lucban has long been known for its cool climate, fresh produce, colorful Pahiyas festival, Kamay ni Hesus Shrine, and its culinary wonders.

After visiting the famous pilgrimage site, we proceeded to Buddy’s Pancit Lucban to sample some of Lucban’s famous culinary treats. For dinner, they served some of Lucban’s famous dishes like Pancit Lucban, Longganisang Lucban, Hardinera, and their version of Sisig.

Pancit Lucban – a noodle dish popularly known as Pancit Habhab in Quezon province is one of my favorites. For people who live in Quezon, this is a daily merienda staple sold by roving vendors or what we call “maglalako”. Pancit habhab as we call it is normally served in banana leaves and eaten straight off of the leaf. Of course, Pancit Lucban will be a lot tastier if you pour vinegar on it.
Longganisang Lucban is a garlicky pork sausage that looks like a shorter version of chorizo de Bilbao. It’s best served when it’s slightly toasted like how Buddy’s Restaurant cook it for their customers.

Hardinera is made of diced pork cooked in tomato sauce with bell pepper, spices topped with cheese, and hard-boiled egg steamed in a metal container called “llanera”.
The first Buddy’s Pancit Lucban was established in Lucban Quezon in 1991 followed by a branch in Lucena City, Tayabas Quezon, Makati City and now they already have 11 branches in Metro Manila and all over Quezon province.
After dinner, we proceeded to Kamayan sa Palaisdaan in Tayabas City – the official residence of PHILTOA’s Southern Tagalog FAM TOUR participants.
