AirAsia News: AirAsia introduces newest domestic destination, Zamboanga City
Manila, Philippines — AirAsia has recently announced its fourth and newest destination in Mindanao — the so-called Asia’s Latin City, Zamboanga.
The airline company said flights from Clark and Cebu to the said destination will commence starting March 29.

The announcement of the company of its newest flights to Zamboanga comes hot on the heels of the announcement of its new flights to General Santos.
Back in 2015 and 2018, AirAsia started operating in Davao and Cagayan de Oro respectively.
“We are pleased to announce our new domestic destination, Zamboanga,” said the CEO of AirAsia Philippines Ricky Isla. “Our newest route cements AirAsia’s connections amongst the country’s major islands: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.”
This action from the AirAsia, according to him, is in support of the program of the Department of Tourism to make tourism in the Philippines livelier. Moreover, it is also aligned with the campaign of the department, “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.”

When it comes to promo fares, customers will only need to fork out P1,090 from their pockets when they are BIG Loyalty Members. In the meantime, if they are non-members, then they need to pay P1,157.
Now, if they will be traveling from Cebu to Zamboanga, the price is as low as P990 for members while they need to pay P1,057 for non-members.

For the uninitiated, Zamboanga is located at the southernmost tip of the Zamboanga Peninsula. It was where Spaniards settled way back the colonial era. As such, even at present, Hispanic influences are still evident in an array of structures in the place, thus its moniker “Asia’s Latin City.”
What makes the place interesting is that it touts unspoiled beaches, serene landscapes, as well as cultural heritage. As such, it has attracted over 700,000 tourists in 2018.
Because of the region’s vast natural resources, Zamboanga has become a commercial as well as an industrial center for trade and commerce.

It is also worth mentioning that the canned sardines sector of Zamboanga has contributed at least USD 16 million when it comes to annual export earnings.
