Hotel101 Global Holdings Corp., a subsidiary of Philippine-listed DoubleDragon Corporation, is expanding into Africa with plans to develop Hotel101-Cairo West, an approximately 750-room hotel in Egypt. Announced on October 20, 2026, the project marks the brand’s entry into the Egyptian market and introduces its standardized condotel business model to a new international destination.
The company has signed definitive binding agreements with WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of Egyptian conglomerate IGI Holding, for a country-wide development agreement covering Hotel101’s expansion into Egypt. The initial project will be located in West Cairo, positioning the Filipino hospitality brand within one of the region’s major cultural tourism gateways.
Hotel101-Cairo West: Location and Project Details
Hotel101-Cairo West is planned for a 15,984-square-meter site in Hay Al Ashgar along Ahmed Zewail Road in 6th of October City, Giza. The development is approximately 10 minutes from the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, two of Egypt’s most significant tourism attractions.
The hotel is expected to feature around 750 rooms, potentially making it one of Cairo’s three largest hotels by room count. The project is estimated to cost 5.465 billion Egyptian pounds, equivalent to approximately US$102.09 million or PHP 6.44 billion.
Completion is targeted for 2029, subject to the necessary government, regulatory, corporate, and other approvals.

Hotel Facilities and Amenities
Hotel101-Cairo West is expected to offer four-star facilities at affordable prices, catering to leisure travelers, families, and business guests visiting Cairo.
Planned amenities include:
- Modern guest rooms
- 24-hour reception
- All-day dining
- Swimming pools
- A full-size gym
- A ballroom
- Meeting rooms and a conference center
- A business center
- A children’s playground
- Ample parking
- Luggage storage
The planned conference and meeting facilities could also position the property to accommodate corporate gatherings, business meetings, and other events, complementing Cairo’s appeal as a destination for both tourism and business travel.
Strategic Location Near the Giza Pyramids and Grand Egyptian Museum
The hotel’s location in West Cairo is expected to provide access to major road networks, including El Wahat Road and the Cairo Ring Road. These connections are intended to facilitate travel around Greater Cairo and provide access to Sphinx International Airport.
The surrounding district has experienced growth in residential, commercial, and tourism developments. Its proximity to established communities and emerging commercial areas could help the hotel serve a mix of international visitors, domestic travelers, and business guests.
For tourists, the property’s location within the broader Giza tourism corridor offers convenient access to the Giza Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum. The museum, which showcases Egypt’s ancient heritage, has become a major addition to the country’s cultural tourism landscape.
Egypt’s Growing Tourism Market
Hotel101’s entry into Egypt comes as the country continues to attract international visitors drawn to its archaeological landmarks, museums, historic cities, and cultural attractions.
Egypt reportedly welcomed more than 19 million tourists in 2025. With a population of approximately 118 million, the country also offers a substantial domestic market alongside its international tourism sector.
Cairo serves as a major gateway for travelers exploring Egypt’s historical sites and cultural destinations. Additional hotel capacity in West Cairo could meet demand from visitors seeking accommodation near Giza’s attractions and the city’s expanding commercial districts.
Hotel101’s International Expansion Strategy
The Cairo project represents another step in Hotel101 Global’s international expansion strategy. The company operates an asset-light, technology-driven hospitality platform built around a standardized condotel model, which it aims to replicate across multiple markets.
Hotel101 Global is listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol HBNB and is a subsidiary of Philippine-listed DoubleDragon Corporation, whose stock ticker is DD on the Philippine Stock Exchange.
The company describes its expansion into Egypt as a milestone for a homegrown Filipino brand entering a new international market. The development agreement establishes a framework for a broader presence across Egypt, beginning with the planned Cairo West property.
Meet the Egyptian Development Partner
Hotel101 Global’s local partner is WNTR Property & Hospitality, an affiliate of IGI Holding. The Sheta family has led the IGI Group since 1942, building a diversified business with interests in textiles, fast-moving consumer goods, food and beverage, heavy industry, petroleum, construction, hospitality, and real estate.
IGI Developments, the group’s real estate arm, has developed integrated residential communities in Egypt since the mid-1990s. According to the project announcement, the company owns about 2.5 million square meters of land in strategic locations and operates residential communities housing more than 40,000 people.
The partnership combines Hotel101’s standardized hospitality concept with the Egyptian group’s experience in real estate development and local market operations.
What the Hotel101-Cairo West Project Means for Travelers
Once completed, Hotel101-Cairo West is expected to offer travelers another accommodation option near some of Egypt’s most recognized cultural attractions. Its planned combination of guest rooms, dining facilities, leisure amenities, and business-event spaces could appeal to tourists, families, and corporate travelers.
However, the property remains under development, and its proposed opening date, facilities, and operating arrangements may depend on construction progress and the completion of required approvals.
For Filipino travelers planning future trips to Egypt, the project also highlights the growing international reach of a Philippine-founded hospitality brand.
With an estimated project value of PHP 6.44 billion and a target completion date of 2029, Hotel101-Cairo West is set to become a significant part of DoubleDragon’s overseas expansion plans. Its progress will be worth watching as Egypt continues to develop its tourism infrastructure and Hotel101 establishes its presence in Africa.
