In an effort to provide added value to consumers, DTC reinvents the classic GSM phone, integrating power bank function into a fuss-free dual SIM handset. The result: the new DTC GE3 (A) Gear.
DTC GE3 (A) Gear
The Gear is one of two classic bar handsets in DTC’s recently released Q3 series, the sixth batch from the mobile device maker since 2011. Focusing on users “who want simple and basic phones that they can use for day-to-day texting and calling”, the Gear integrates all the basic elements for essential mobile tasks including SMS, MMS and call functions; rear VGA camera for quick captures; FM radio and audio support for music; GPRS and WAP for Web browsing; a micro SD card slot for file storage (up to 32GB); and Bluetooth for file sharing.
However, the Gear’s highlight is its power bank function, which allows users to charge off any USB device using the Gear’s battery. Devices such mobile phones, tablets and laptops can be connected to the USB port to jumpstart them. Considering same range phones pack cells between 500 to 1,000 mAh, the Gear’s 4500 mAh cell produces ample extra power for emergency charging.

It is also one of the most economical multipurpose power bank devices in the Philippine market.
DTC General Manager Ferdinand Buensalida, Jr. explains the concept behind the Gear’s power bank feature: “We all have those moments when our gadget’s battery gets drained. A power bank is a pleasant add-on emergency feature to the Gear, because not only does it make it a hardy mobile phone, it also allows users to charge any compatible USB device, wherever they are. It eliminates the cost and hassle of bringing a charger, buying an extra battery, or finding a place to charge your device for a fee.”
In addition, the Gear also offers a supersized LED torch and a 2.4”-inch QVGA TFT LCD display. Each gift box contains a 3.5” earphone, USB charger and user manual.
