Travel Gadgets: Dive into the World of Photography with the Nokia Lumia 1020

Travel Gadget: Nokia Lumia 1020 Review

Besides the super hot look of the Nokia Lumia 1020 – with the bright yellow model you get matching headphones – there are a lot of reasons to like this new smartphone. The design was developed with the hopes of creating the top smartphone camera in it’s class. And on that front, Nokia has not let anyone down. The camera has great software and hardware, and gives you a whopping 41-megapixels, unrivaled by other phone cameras. This means you’ve got a pretty decent camera along with a your Windows smartphone.

Downsides

But before I get super excited about what you get, let’s talk a bit about what the Lumia 1020 is not. This is still a camera attached to a smartphone. It is not the same as buying a separate camera. For photography buffs or enthusiasts with an understanding of what you get from some of the nicer digital cameras out there, you’ll notice that this is not going to hold up in a comparison. The camera is the best among the available smartphones in the market and photo outputs are very impressive but still, its not a total camera replacement. Because of its unrivaled camera technology and capability, It follows that this gadget is a pretty expensive too.

Who Will Love The Nokia Lumia 1020?

Well for starters: me. I like the fact that I don’t have to carry more electronics than necessary. My whole travel philosophy is based on taking what little gear I have to. If I could get by with a little backpack on each trip, I’d do it. So I’ve been looking for a camera that offers something better than most phone cameras. Let’s face it, most phone cameras are good for posting to Facebook and that’s it.

Which is fine. But if you’re a travel blogger or someone who really wants to get into taking better photos, you want a step up from that, right? You want to learn more about photography, but you’re not ready to invest in a really expensive digital camera that you’re going to travel with.

This smartphone promises to provide good camera output even in low light condition which is important to me since most mobile phone cameras are really not built for low light photography.

Those things get stolen or broken all the time. It’s an investment that you make when you know what you’re doing and have decided that photography is something you want to invest in.

The Lumia 1020 is the step in that direction that I felt like I could happily take. It’s a bit more expensive, but you get a great camera, lots of storage space, and a nice big screen. Plus, it’s built to withstand travel. For me? This is a Perfect out of town gadget! I really want to own or at least test one soon!!
