Known across the world for its stunningly beautiful turquoise blue beaches and fine white sands, Cancun is one of Mexico’s prized tourist destinations. Besides its beaches and festive nightlife, there are many best things to do in Cancun, Mexico, from visiting the World Heritage Sites to various water activities.

Tour Lake Bacalar
Is Cancun a good place for couples? In fact, there are more than a dozen recommended things to do for couples or even newlyweds. One of them is a visit to Lake Bacalar – a freshwater lake that looks like one of the beaches in the Caribbean with clear turquoise water and an amazing atmosphere. Ruins of Chichen Itza
One of the major tourist attractions in Cancun is the Ruins of Chichen Itza. The ancient Mayan site and one of the mythical great cities of Mesoamerican were crowned as one of the New 7 Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The site has one of the most famous pyramids in Mexico, showcasing great architectural styles from the Mayan civilization.
Situated in the Riviera Maya, Xcaret Park is a modernistic ecological theme park and resort offering many fun activities. The park has natural attractions such as a river streaming to a Mayan Village, a coral reef aquarium, an aviary, and a butterfly pavilion.
They also showcase different performances, and Xcaret Mexico Spectacular is the biggest and longest show in the parking, lasting up to two hours.
La Isla Shopping Village
A great place to do some shopping and dining is the La Isla Shopping Village outdoor shopping complex.
The place is one of the famous tourist areas with local and luxurious stores, aquarium, dolphin shows, boat rentals, and a great place to enjoy a Mexican meal by the marina where you can enjoy the picturesque sky of Cancun.
For a breathtaking nature experience, visit the natural attraction Cenotes, where you can swim and scuba dive. Cenotes are sinkholes consisting of fresh groundwater that result from collapsing limestone bedrocks.
This natural pit was once used by the ancient Mayans as their water source. Cancun’s best cenotes are situated near Chichen Itza and Tulum.

If you are looking for a place to stay with a great view or enjoy the nightlife, head to Cancun’s Hotel Zone. The area is similar to Las Vegas Strip, where high-end resorts and fancy restaurants are lined up by the bay.

Museo Maya De Cancun
Museo Maya De Cancun is a must-visit museum with in-depth insights into Mayan history and civilization.
Situated near Cancun Hotel Zone, the museum is small yet filled with a lot of the greatest Yucatán collections of Mayan archeological artifacts and includes the archeological site ruins of San Miguelito.
Musa Underwater Museum
Cancun is known as one of the best scuba diving areas for its waters’ diversity of marine life. Whether you are a pro scuba diver or just starting, one of the best things to do in Cancun is visit Musa Underwater Museum to level up your scuba diving experience.
Musa has around 500 sculptures underwater in the galleries of Manchones, Punta Nizuc, and Punta Sam.

The tour consists of tour guides who will guide tourists to snorkeling areas and photos and videos that can be purchased after the tour.
Before you leave Cancun, visit Downtown Cancun for a more local experience. The area is a flea market consisting of over 600 stalls and restaurants, selling local goods from blankets to rare handicrafts that are perfect souvenirs.
The market is also perfect for trying local cuisine such as the parillada yucateca.
To experience Mexican culture the traditional way, experience the festive Xoximilco. The theme park showcases Mexican culture, traditions, and customs through dance, music, food, and games on colorful Mexican Gondolas at the Mayan Jungle.
For party seekers, Xoximilco is a great activity whether you are with friends or family.
