Who’s it for? Sochi is great for couples wanting to take advantage of a cheap yet exciting location.

What’s the highlight? In Sochi, the lowland coastal Olympic village and arenas are a must-see when you’re not up in the mountains.

Why go? You can swim in the Black Sea in the morning under sub-tropical palm trees and ski in the afternoon! They also have several packages, including their popular all-inclusive ski holidays.

Interesting fact: as well as the home of the Russian Winter Olympics in 2014, Stalin had his holiday palace in Sochi, close to his native country of Georgia.

Who’s it for? Lapland is great for young families who also want to ride a reindeer and visit Santa’s home when not hitting the slopes.

Interesting fact: it’s possible to stay in a glass igloo and see the Northern Lights shimmering above.
