Rafael’s Tapas Bar and Restaurant Review
If you think you’ve seen and tried it all around the Newport Mall already, think again. Rafael’s Tapas Bar and Restaurant is a new restaurant that opened just this 2022, which makes almost any mall goer peek and eventually come inside.

Art All Around
Whether that’s because of the aroma of their Spanish-inspired Filipino specialties or the gallery-like look of the place, Rafael’s captivates and doesn’t disappoint. With its eye-catching interiors and a collection of paintings and sculptural works, it’s really like entering an art exhibit. Bold and gold accents (even its toilet bowl) are conversation pieces while guests wait to be served.

And while everything looks so sophisticated in every corner, there’s no reason to be intimidated, especially with the serving staff’s warmth and accommodating gestures that will make one feel at ease.
Comfort and Nostalgia Through Food
The menu items look familiar but will give you a sense of curiosity. Many dishes are Filipino favorites you might have been craving, but it would also leave a space for your imagination about how the chef gives their own flair and European inspiration to it.

During our visit, we tried a lot of bestsellers like the Pesto and Ricotta Pizza, the pintxos, their tapas, Twice Cooked Pork Belly Adobo, and the Mustard and Peanut Crusted Salmon. Rafael’s also takes pride in their Pork Tomahawk Steak.

Every dish easily became our favorite, and it was difficult to decide which one really stood out. But to give a personal recommendation, I love how flavorful and filling Mustard, Peanut Crusted Salmon is, and with the serving size, it’s really a bang for your buck.

Rafael’s also has an Executive Brunch Menu for executives on the go that require only the best home-cooked meals in the midst of a busy day.
Dessert options include the Big Bang Theory, a really fancy Turon that comes with Tablea Dipping Sauce, their signature Maja Blanca, and the delectable Tres Leches.
Rafael’s At Night

While it’s a popular choice for lunch, Rafael’s is much alive when the dark sets in. People come for a good dinner and also for drinks. It has a bar with a very impressive collection of wines, beers, whisky, vodka and the likes.

We tried their most recent Unlimited Cocktails promo, where guests can enjoy a selection of mixes for just P888 from 4pm-6pm and 9pm-11pm daily. Their sangria is a must-try!

The restaurant has also been a favorite by singers and celebrities who perform at the Newport Performing Arts Theatre. Chances are, you might be seated next to them during dinner!
For Special Occasions
Guests can also book Rafael’s Tapas Bar and Restaurant for special events, product launches, milestone celebrations, and the likes.

It also has Petronila’s VIP room on the second floor. It can comfortably accommodate 12 pax, and the room has a Smart TV that can be used for entertainment or business purposes. For reservation and consumable rates, send them a message via their Instagram or Facebook accounts.
Unique Dining Experience
Rafael’s offers not just a unique dining experience through these comfort foods, the elegant interiors, signature drinks, and the art display but, most importantly, a nostalgic one. Your favorite Filipino dish Adobo, that you miss after a long time of working abroad, or the hearty Halaan Tinola that probably reminds you of a loved one, are served here with flavors that entice and satisfy those cravings.

“We are all about great food and happy memories here, and that is what we hope guests experience with every visit,” said owner Henjie Carmona.
