It’s difficult to feel unhappy in Palawan. I gaze out at the gentle breezes drifting over the water and watch the palm trees sway. Surrounded by smiling, joyful people, I embrace the relaxed, uncomplicated island lifestyle. If I ever begin to feel stressed or sad, I have the ideal remedy. In Puerto Princesa, I always go to Bakers Hill to soak up the fresh air, meet welcoming locals, and indulge in their freshly baked Hopia.

Bakers Hill Hopia Ube
At Baker’s Hill, I carefully hand over a few pesos to the vendor, feeling the slight weight of my remaining change in my palm. As I turn away, I stroll leisurely back toward the parking lot. Clutched securely in my hands is a box filled with warm, fragrant ube hopia, its sweet aroma drifting as I walk.

Personally, I enjoy savoring ube hopia and spending time at the beach, feeling the warm sun and cool breeze. However, if you choose to stay at Baker’s Hill, you’ll discover an aviary bustling with colorful birds, a charming spot to sit and unwind, and a number of fellow tourists wandering about.
Over the past few years, it has evolved into a popular tourist destination in its own right. I don’t mind the crowds, as long as the delectable ube hopia remains just as delicious.
The reason why they’ve gotten famous is that without a doubt, they make the best hopia ube in the entire Puerto Princesa and probably the entire Philippines.
They also have plenty of tasty treats and snacks, and you can sit down for a meal if you like. Trust me, though, the key is to go share your treats with family, friends, and even strangers, and make some new friends. You’ll never regret it.
