During the 26th World Travel Awards (WTA) Grand Final, AirAsia was given the title of World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline, and the award for World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew.

The World Travel Awards, first established back in 1993, is an award-giving body that is given by a jury of experts when it comes to hospitality. Most of the jury comes from the World Travel and Tourism Council. This is in order to acknowledge the hard work people give regarding travel and tourism.

This year marks the seventh consecutive year that AirAsia won the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline title and is their third year of winning the World’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew award.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes has said that they are very thrilled to be recognized once again and that the awards are a “testament to our dedication to excellence in air travel.” AirAsia Group Head of Cabin Crew Suhaila Hassan recalls that in the beginning, they only consisted of 30 cabin crew members and they only had two airplanes that flew Malaysian routes, and even after their huge growth to up to 6,000 cabin crew members, they still “maintained the same passion for service that we had back in the early days.”

World Travel Awards founder Graham E Cooke said that they are delighted with the outcome of the awards and that, “AirAsia continues to set the benchmarks for low-cost aviation in Asia and beyond.”

The two awards that AirAsia received from WTA is only an addition to what they got in just this year. Earlier during the week, AirAsia and AirAsia X Malaysia got the Best Low-Cost Carriers Asia/Pacific in the AirlineRatings.com Airline Excellence Awards, and in October they also got the title of Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline and Asia’s Leading Low-Cost Airline Cabin Crew at the Asia and Oceania edition of the WTA, which was held in Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
