Food Trip: AirAsia launches new Asian Santan Menu
As a blogger, there is nothing I love more than food and traveling. If I can’t do them one at a time, I do them at the same time. Unfortunately, not all airlines offer good food. This is why I feel like all my dreams were turned to reality when AirAsia launched the new “Santan in-flight menu and catalog”.

I was one of the lucky bloggers who was invited to attend the launching in Amorita Resort in Bohol last July 12. AirAsia, which has borne the title of the World’s Best Low-Cost Carrier for nine consecutive years, has yet again reinvented flight hospitality with their new Santan in-flight menu, which we were able to sample during the program.

Karlo Sanchez, AirAsia Philippines’ Head of Ancillary, was in the event. In his speech, Sanchez announced that the new dishes are available in all ASEAN flights, extending to the countries of China, India, Japan, Australia, and the United States.
The new Santan menu features flavorful gourmet dishes that originated from different countries in Asia.

Some of the signature dishes that I was able to try include the Thai dish Green Curry with Rice and the Nasi Lemak from Malaysia. I especially loved the Green Curry with Rice. It was so aromatic, and the chicken curry was tender, perfectly moist and spicy.

Another spotlight in the menu is the Spicy Beef Bulgogi with Japchae. The popular noodle dish that is topped with soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil, comes from Korea.

Also showcased during the food tasting session were authentic Chicken Rice from Singapore, and, yes, Chicken Adobo from the Philippines.

The highlight of the menu is Chicken Lasagne, which also happened to be one of my favorites. Even people who are not the biggest fan of pasta will surely love the dish. Pasta lovers will be stoked to know that this is available for pre-booking online.
Instead of the accustomed beef, this classic dish contains a heavenly helping of chicken, creamy cheese, veggies, and aromatic spices. It’s lasagna reinvented.

Of course, dessert was also in the menu. I was able to sample some of their Red Velvet Cake, which was just perfect. It was not too sweet, and it had the right amount of moist that complemented the cream cheese. Also for dessert was Chocolate Meringue, a light, bite-sized pastry that goes well with the beverages that we tried.

I wasn’t in an airplane during the launching event, but I could just imagine it: great dining aboard the plane of my dreams to my dream destination. Wonderful, right? But the best part of all this is that they are very affordable.

Guests can enjoy the new in-flight Santan menu meal-and-drink combinations for just Php 180. You simply need to purchase or book your meals online prior to your scheduled flight.

Aside from being the best low-cost airline in the world, AirAsia also holds the title of the World’s Leading Inflight Service, and the Catering Innovation of the Year award by Onboard Hospitality.

AirAsia is set to host food tasting sessions in selected BPO offices and malls in Metro Manila. There are no further announcements for this yet, so make sure to stay updated by following #AirAsiaSantanPH on Twitter.
