Review: Timberland Highlands Resort in San Mateo, Rizal

Planning for a holiday vacation in Rizal? Timberland Highlands Resort in San Mateo is just the perfect place for your family and friends to getaway and celebrate this season.

What used to be an exclusive venue for the residents of the Timberland Heights township has now become the newest leisure destination for everyone who wishes to have a unique experience in mountain eco-development.

Timberland Highlands Resort marries luxury and is close to nature as San Mateo, Rizal’s first tourism estate in a mountain terrain offering majestic views of Metro Manila, Sierra Madre mountain ranges, and Laguna de Bay.

Hotel Location

The resort is located in Timberland Heights, Barangay Guitnang Bayan II, in San Mateo. Ditch the notion that you’ll need to travel far to get a 180-degree view of the Sierra Madre ranges because it only takes more or less than 2 hours to reach the resort from Metro Manila, depending on the traffic.

Arrival Experience

One of the best things about the resort is upon arrival, you will be greeted with the breathtaking view it has been taking pride in. During my visit around the last quarter of the year, the cool breeze welcomed me and immediately excited me even more for the nearing holiday season.

Checking in was easy. The front desk staff always smiled and were very accommodating to my questions. We didn’t experience any hard times and were led properly to our rooms.

Rooms

Upon arriving at my room, I was easily impressed by how clean and spacious it was. The resort has around 70 rooms as of November 2022 and is located in an extension building such as the Deluxe Twin, Deluxe King, Premier Deluxe Twin, and Premier Deluxe King. These types are perfect if you’d go with your loved ones to celebrate Christmas or New Year.

I was in awe at night because I was stunned by the view of the stars from my room. Thankful that it was a night with clear skies. When the sunset, the breeze went from cool to chilly, and I enjoyed it.

The room has everything a vacationer would need for a relaxing stay. I was welcomed with a personal note with chocolate pops on the side. It came with complimentary tea, coffee, and water, plus toiletries and other basic amenities. It has a fridge, TV, and fast Wi-Fi, and I also like that it has a small couch for lounging and a workstation.

Food

Timberland Resort’s Ridge Cafe offers hearty Pinoy and International favorites and more. If you’re in the resort for comfort food and even specialty dishes, they have it, and you’ll definitely be satisfied. This cafe has al fresco dining, so you can feel the mountain breeze when you dine.

For those who will celebrate the season here, you can enjoy a delectable holiday spread with dishes inspired by various cuisines as offered by the cafe.

Resort Facilities

Because it used to be a clubhouse, Timberland Resort has more to offer than other resorts or hotels.

You’ll be delighted with their badminton court, wall climbing area, and multi-purpose court if you’re a sports or recreation enthusiast. Two of my favorite facilities I got to experience are the infinity swimming pool and the fitness center because of their gorgeous views!

Departure

It’s hard to say goodbye to the resort because my experience was joyful. I’ll definitely come back for their holiday buffet spread and, of course, the Christmas amenities in the rooms this season!

Last November, they had a tree lighting ceremony with the theme #DitoTayoSaPasko and lit up their tall Christmas tree at the center of their grand staircase. Perfect for Christmas family photos!
