Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Opens 3rd Branch in BGC
No need to travel to New York for some authentic Manhattan-style steaks.
The space is adjacent to the gardens near Shangri-La at the Fort and is the first branch of the restaurant in BGC. OOTB was part of the opening event of this third branch, and we got to taste their famous porterhouse steaks, as well as mingle with one of the founders of the brand itself – Peter Zwiener.
Apart from Peter, his father, the brand’s namesake – Wolfgang Zwiener, attended the opening at BGC as well; a rare treat for media guests. Wolfgang Zwiener was the former headwaiter at the renowned Peter Luger Steakhouse in New York; it’s an establishment founded in 1887.
Zwiener worked in the restaurant for 40 years. After retiring, his son, Peter, convinced his father to put up their own brand, and thus Wolfgang’s Steakhouse was born. Today, the brand is famous for their USDA Prime Black Angus Beef.
“Our beef is dry-aged on premise under an environment with a controlled temperature and humidity for an average of 28 days,” said Zwiener at the opening event in BGC. “All our beef products has the same taste and quality from our other branches across the globe.”
Wolfgang Steakhouse has three branches in the Philippines – one in Resorts World at Pasay City, one in The Podium mall in Mandaluyong, and their latest is in BGC. Wolfgang’s has a burgeoning presence across the United States, Japan, Korea, China, Hong Kong, and Singapore.
The restaurant will also open new locations in Cyprus, their sixth location in New York City, Jakarta, Boston and their third location in Tokyo by the first quarter of next year.

“I think the market here is great for lunch goers because you have the stock exchange and a lot of financial banks around like JPMorgan Chase, but it’s also a highly residential area, and so we’re hoping to tap that as well,” Peter Zwiener shared with us, when we chatted with him at the opening event in One Bonifacio High Street mall. “It’s also a center for food and a center for nightlife. It’s also a center for tourists, so it’s literally at the center for a lot of things. I think it’s a great place for our restaurant.”
Zwiener added, “BGC is a beautiful, vibrant and cosmopolitan area of Manila, and was actually the initial place I spent time when I visited the Philippines for the first time 6 years ago.”
At the restaurant opening, guests were treated to a sumptuous multi-course meal, exemplifying the best dishes of the brand. We sampled their Seafood Platter, which is an overflowing plate filled with oysters, crab meat, shrimps and lobsters.
Next, we were served the Beverly Hills Chopped Salad, which is made with romaine, spinach, carrots, cucumber, corn, peas, bell peppers, cabbage, and feta cheese.
After the appetizers, we had Beef Barley soup, to whet our appetite for the upcoming main course – the USDA Prime Dry Aged Porterhouse Steak.
The steak was brought to our table sizzling hot, and my fellow guests immediately set upon the portions that were placed in our plates. The meat was savory and has a soft texture which avows the premium nature of the beef.
For the sides, we had mashed green potatoes, creamed spinach, and Wolfgang’s Steakhouse’s very own Lobster Mac and Cheese. The latter is a definite must-try.
