Manila, Philippines — Frequent travelers like ourselves have no time to prepare meals at home. However, there are times when we just want some home cooked meals in our bellies. Not the street foods, nor resto grub, or even fast-food. Sometimes, we just want, and miss, some good old, home-cooked meals.
It was then a great opportunity for us to revisit our rusty cooking skills when we were invited to a food preparation demo in Makati.
Team Out of Town recently attended an event at SM Makati, featuring the Tefal Titanium Expertise, a new addition to the brand’s line of well-known nonstick cookware. At the event, media guests were treated to food prepared by “Chefmom” Rosebud Benitez, an expert at no-fuss, family-friendly, home-cooked meals.
Chef Rosebud is well known for her television show, which features recipes that require only 10 minutes of preparation and cooking – perfect for on-the-go peeps and frequent travelers.
A long-time Tefal user, be her own admission, Chef Rosebud presented staple meals with a healthy twist. There was Chicken Adobo with Lemongrass, Brown Rice Veggie Stir Fry, Asian Noodles and Soy Fish Fillet, all made using Tefal Titanium Expertise. She also shared tips on getting on-track with healthy eating.
At the demo in SM Makati, we also tried the Tefal frying pan.
Not an expert chef by any means, we were quite astounded how “nonstick” the Tefal pan really is. Minimal oil was used, and a fried egg simply glided all over the pan. Representatives from Tefal also answered questions about the safety of the nonstick pan.
Tefal assured guests that the nonstick surface was not dangerous to one’s health, even when ingested. In particular, the new range – Tefal Titanium Expertise, has the new “Titanium Excellence coating,” which lasts up to three times longer than the previous Titanium Force coating.
The premium multilayer non-stick coating features a patented extra-thick hard base, according to Tefal, and is reinforced with titanium particles, making it built for intensive everyday use up to 12 years.
After the demo, we tried out Chef Rosebud’s creations. Our favorite was the Brown Rice Veggie Stir Fry, and a close second was the Asian Noodles and Soy Fish Fillet.
