(Manila, Philippines) – Several LGU’s and Schools in the Philippines have suspended classes on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, due to inclement weather condition brought about by Typhoon Rosita (International name: Yutu).

Typhoon Update by PAGASA Issued at 05:00 am, 30 October 2018
TYPHOON “ROSITA” HAS MADE LANDFALL IN DINAPIGUE, ISABELA.
- Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal (TCWS) No. 1 over Camarines Norte and Southern Quezon has been lifted.
- “ROSITA” will traverse over Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet and La Union.
- Stormy Weather over the areas under TCWS No. 3 & 2. Travel by land is risky over these areas.
- Expect moderate to heavy rains directly associated with the Typhoon over Northern and Central Luzon. Residents in these areas, especially those living near river channels, in low-lying areas and mountainous areas, are advised to take appropriate actions against possible flooding and landslides, coordinate with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices.
- Storm surge of up to 3 meters is possible over the coastal areas of Isabela, Cagayan, Aurora, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union and Pangasinan.
- Fisherfolks and those with small seacrafts are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of areas with TCWS and the eastern and western seaboards of Southern Luzon.
- Possible exit landmass this afternoon and will exit PAR by tomorrow evening (31 Oct.).

Department of Education (DepEd) Class Suspension Guideline:
- DepEd Calls on parents to determine whether their children should go to school during typhoons, floods and other calamities in the absence of official announcements from DepEd.
- In the absence of storm signal warnings, LGU are expected to announce whole day class cancellations not later than 4:30AM or half day class suspensions not later than 11:00AM.
- Storm signal warning declared by PAGASA between 10:00pm and 4:30AM reflect the whole day cancellation of classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.
- Storm signal warnings declared by PAGASA by 11:00AM automatically suspend the same day’s afternoon classes in appropriate levels in the affected areas.
*Suspension of classes for the tertiary level (colleges and universities) will be at the discretion of school management.
