Design
It may not be the “slimmest” in terms of thickness in design, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3’s 123 x 64.4 x 9.85mm dimension is a little on the chunky side as much as “slimness” in hardware design is concern – an attribute often seen in higher-end specification smartphones. Overall, the phone is made using plastic as the material whose swappable back is available in three colors namely white, yellow and slate which may appeal to younger generations as an entry smartphone. In the end, the phone may have simplicity in mind and is thus intended as such for its designs.

Screen
Offering a 4.0 inch 480 x 800 display with a pixel density of 233 pixels per inch screen, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 is a little on the small side especially when there are other similar phones of its price range that are of bigger screens in the market, minus the LTE-capability. However, if it is iPhone 5S is your standard for a screen size, then Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 is no less small.
Performance
Powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 fares better with power thanks to the mentioned. While it may not be an ideal unit for high-end gaming, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 is fine on most things which is not an issue when traveling.
Camera
Having only a 5-megapixel at its disposal, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3’s camera may not be much especially when there are higher caliber cameras available for any smartphones. However, it is at least capable of handling 1080p videos which is good enough to take videos with during travels.

Interface
Possibly one of the good points of an Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 smartphone is its reasonably good interface. The smartphone’s largely clutter-free and easy-to-navigate interface added by a one-finger zoom feature makes zooming a little easier and may appeal to younger audiences. However, it runs on an older version of Android (4.3) as opposed to the current 4.4 Kit-Kat version.
Battery Life, Memory, Price, and Connectivity
Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 uses a 2000 mAh battery which may last you throughout the day of light to moderate use. At home, this would not pose much problem in terms of battery power. However, a power bank support may be needed especially when used as an accompanying mobile phone during long travels.
Common to most smartphones of its tier, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 has 4 Gb of built-in storage and a microSD support of up to 32 Gb.
Bearing a price point set for a “mid-range” specification on similar devices in today’s standards, Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 may not necessarily be deemed “mid-range” in terms of hardware build. Its main selling point, however, upon its release is its LTE-capability. However, it also supports 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0.
Verdict
In the end, availing of Alcatel OneTouch Pop S3 is a question of: “What is important to you – hardware build or fast LTE connection?”
