Travel Gadget: SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE Wireless Earbuds Review

SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE Wireless Earbuds Review

Right off the bat, the SoundPEATS Truengine 3SE is a good-looking device. Sporting a classic roadworthy look accentuated by cyberpunk internals, you know you’re putting your money into a neat pair of headphones that look and sound great.

But how does it fare with other mid-range earbuds popping up left and right in the battle for best true wireless earbuds supremacy? Let’s take a closer look:

Audio quality

The Truengine 3 SE is an upgrade of the first Truengine SE model. Sure, SoundPEATS kept the shape and design of the Truengine line’s earpieces, but the difference between the devices lies in its sound prowess.

The Truengine 3SE offers softer, toned-down mid-tones where deep bass gets more room. The combination of titanium-plated speaker and composite diaphragm speaker is great for upbeat tracks and vocals, while the Apt-X audio brings a crisp listening experience to audiophiles.

Design and ergonomics

The Truengine 3 SE case is made mostly of AB plastic, with an added rubber finish to provide a better grip. The earbuds take the first-generation model’s design, but the improved structure makes the headset smaller and wears a touch-panel in rose gold, giving it a more expensive feel than other earbuds within the same price segment.

One thing, though, is that it is a little more uncomfortable than the older Truengine SE as it allows an air gap on the ear tip and the earbuds that let in outside noise. The flimsy plastic nodes found on its predecessor have been replaced with matte rubber support, and they feel fairly sturdy (it also comes with Comply Foam-tips).

Battery life and usage

A single charge on the Truengine 3SE will give you six full hours of playback, and the charging case will provide an additional four full charges, bringing the total battery life at your disposal to 30 hours, a feat of 10 hours additional playback compared to entry-level earbuds such as the True Free 2.

It is IPX5-rated, which means that the earbuds can withstand sweat and water and allows you to use them while doing tedious activities such as sports and exercise.

Controls and connectivity

Powered by the latest QCC3020 chipset and Bluetooth 5.0 technology, the Truengine 3 SE ensures low power consumption and stable connectivity at the same time.

Each earbud has two mic filtering out ambient noise, and the sensitive touch control did help in not taking out your headphones from time to time. It has convenient LED indicators that tell you how much battery you have left.
