Must-Try in Bali: Swim in the Edge’s Glass Bottom Sky Pool
Bali, Indonesia, is brimming with breathtaking vistas, and we found a viewpoint that comes with an extraordinary experience. At The Edge, a villa luxury resort in Southern Bali on a clifftop, you can swim in their glass bottom sky pool with the ocean view at your feet.
A day at The Edge
The Edge offers grand and luxurious villa rooms for those who wish to have a 5-star holiday of their lifetime. But for budget travelers like us, it’s possible to make this happen because guests can also avail of a day pass to One-Eighty, the resort’s beach club facility.
Booking our day pass via KLOOK
We booked our day passes at Klook, including admission to One-Eighty, access to all pools, a pool towel, and your own lounge area for one whole day. The best part? The package also included food and beverage credits at IDR300,000 net per person or more than Php 1000, depending on the currency exchange. You can add a spa package with a hot stone massage but for an additional fee.
Note that upon booking the day pass, you must directly schedule and secure your time slot by contacting the branch’s reservation channels found on your voucher. We wanted to do the activity before sunset, so we chose to get the 5:00pm time slot.
We were coming from Seminyak, and The Edge was about an hour of travel from it (depending on the traffic), so we also booked a 6-hour private car charter service to get there. This booking included insurance, gas, and an English-speaking driver who picked us up, dropped us off at The Edge, waited for us until we were done for the day, and safely brought us back to the hotel. The Edge offers free parking for guests like us, but if you book this service for another purpose, note that toll and parking fees are not included.
What to bring
The day passes do not include everything you’ll need at the beach club. You need to bring your own:
- Change of clothes
- Own toiletries and other personal needs
- Extra cash
- Towel (If you prefer to use yours, but they also provide one)
The Edge Experience
We expected to get a luxurious treatment, and we were not disappointed. Upon arrival, some attendants led us to the parking for our rented car and the lobby for us guests. The receptionist was English-speaking, warm, and accommodating to us. She confirmed our booking and told us the guidelines. We did not have to wait long, as the buggy arrived right after our check-in.
We had a quick tour of the place on the way to One-Eighty. We were dropped to a point where an attendant was waiting for us, finally leading us to the beach club.
We were immediately assisted in choosing the lounge areas left because all in the first row, which has the nicest ocean view, were already taken. But this was fine with us, and I think we still enjoyed the experience wherever we were seated.
Next, the staff reiterated our F&B credits and that we could order anytime using the amount. We were given a buzzer to call their attention anytime we needed anything. We then ordered cocktails, pizza, and a plate of pasta. The menu was a bit pricey for us as budget travelers, but we’re glad that the day pass already included food and drink credits. When the food came, we were impressed with how big the servings were and their quick service.
As for enjoying the pools, we had so much fun. There are several swimming areas – one for adults and everyone with a glass bottom floor; one on a higher tier of the area, which is for VIP access only; and one for kids. Lifeguards and attendants were almost everywhere and were attentive and ready to assist.
One-Eighty also has a man-made lagoon beautifully adorned with pink and blooming bougainvillea, perfect for picture-taking. We took a lot of photos, ate our food, swam to our heart’s content, got amused with the view of the waves crashing at our feet from the glass floor of the pool, and watched the skies change colors, although it was a bit gloomy and the sunset wasn’t very visible.
Overall, we had a good time using the day passes, and I recommend you visit the place with your friends and family to make the most of the place and the experience. If you can splurge on your Bali trip and stay at one of their villas overnight, I bet you’d have a more exclusive, grand, and luxurious experience.
