Lima Park, Malvar, Batangas — Few weeks ago, Team out of Town was invited by Lima Park Hotel, an official partner of SPARTAN PH to participate in the race. Partaking in this kind of adrenalin pumping activity is not that easy especially if you are not active in sports and having said that, we just decided to just cover the event and roam around the vicinity to watch each the participants as they complete each task.
More than 4,000 local and international racers participated in the recent Spartan SEA Regional Series with the LIMA Beast/Sprint 2019 recently held at the Lima Technology Center in Lipa-Malvar Batangas.
Being the first out of three Southeast Asian series, LIMA Beast/Sprint is the stepping stone for the competitive Spartans to qualify for the Asia Pacific Championships on August 25 and World Championships on September 28-29 this year.
This first leg of the SEA Regional Series highlighted three categories: the Hurricane Hear, the Spartan Sprint, and the Spartan Beast.
The Hurricane Heat is a unique event, traversing on and off the Spartan Race Course. Participants will be assigned a team upon arrival and will be expected to work together to complete any and all challenges set before them, as a team. You can’t finish alone.
The Spartan Sprint, perfect for athletes of all levels—from Spartan first-timers to seasoned racers. The 6+km Sprint may be the shortest distance but it packs more than 20 Signature Spartan Obstacles. This is the only race in the event that will have the elite and age group categories.
Last is the Spartan Beast, the most difficult of the three. The Beast is a test of endurance, perseverance, grit, and mind. The 21-km Beast packs more than 30 Signature Spartan Obstacles. This is the final hurdle to the Spartan TRIFECTA glory.
Spartan Race (official website) is a leader in the sport of obstacle racing, offering open heats for all fitness levels, as well as competitive and elite heats for those with something more to prove.
The first of its kind to feature timing and global rankings, Spartan Race provides a proving ground for beginner and professional obstacle racers looking to test themselves in new ways across the world.
In this South East Asian series, the qualified racers will eventually compete in the Asia Pacific Championships against the winning racers from the East Asia Series and Australian National Series.
Spartan Race is the world’s best obstacle course race, with over 240 races in 25 countries around the world. It is not your everyday running race—expect to run, climb, push, pull, throw, and crawl through walls, hills, trees, mud, barbed wire and other challenging but fun obstacles.
