SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) plans to open SM Seaside Cebu Arena in June 2026. It will be the largest of its kind and the first purpose-built multipurpose indoor arena in Cebu Province.
SM Prime to Open SM Seaside Cebu Arena
Situated within South Coast City, a development by SM Prime in Cebu, the arena covers approximately 1.6 hectares in building footprint and has a total gross floor area of about 7.4 hectares.
Before its opening, SM Seaside Cebu Arena is negotiating with concert promoters, sports federations, family entertainment producers, and corporate event organizers to secure bookings. This indicates high initial interest and a robust pipeline of upcoming events.
“By building a venue of this scale in Cebu, we are strengthening the Visayas as a destination for international events, domestic tourism and long-term investment,” said SM Prime President Jeffrey C. Lim.
The SM Seaside Cebu Arena will host more than 25,000 guests and include multi-level spectator zones, professional sports and entertainment systems, corporate suites, VIP lounges, a variety of food and beverage options, and other lifestyle amenities.
A SkyBridge will connect the arena to SMX Convention Center Cebu and SM Seaside City Cebu, enhancing visitor flow, comfort, and accessibility.
“There is a lot of excitement and anticipation for this project because Cebuanos have long supported live concerts, and having a large-capacity venue in Cebu makes these events more accessible without the added cost of traveling to Manila,” said Lim.
SM Seaside Cebu Arena benefits from SM Prime’s experience managing the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Metro Manila, which held its inaugural public event in 2012 with Lady Gaga’s two-night Born This Way Ball concert.
Since then, MOA Arena has become a top-tier venue hosting major international sports events such as the NBA Global Games, the FIBA Basketball World Cup, and the FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championships.
It has hosted numerous major international artists, including Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK, BTS, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, the Jonas Brothers, Madonna, Maroon 5, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and many others.
