To shorten the travel time from Manila to Vigan and vice versa, the South East Asian Airlines (SEAIR) airplane company launched the inaugural domestic flight of its 32–seater Dornier 328 at the newly–developed Vigan airport last Friday here.
Flights to Vigan City
Officials from SEAIR, headed by General Edilberto Yap, with Ilocos Sur Governor Luis Chavit Singson and Vice Governor Deogracias Victor “DV” B. Savellano led the 32 passengers who safely landed the Tarmac of Vigan airport on-board a Dornier aircraft during the inaugural flight.
Singson said that the establishment of said domestic flights in the area is a partnership project between the provincial government of Ilocos Sur and the SEAIR Company.
“We created the domestic flights of SEAIR airplane in Vigan airport to lessen the travel time from Vigan to Manila from eight (8) hours using land-based vehicles to about 45 minutes through the airplane,” he said.
“With these domestic flights, the tourism industry in the province will surely boom because foreign and domestic tourists and visitors will have a shorter trip period and the luxury of time to visit the pride of Vigan City and the other beautiful and attractive places in the province,” he added.
Singson also noted that said domestic flights will be of great advantage for the local residents, businessmen and officials who have emergency appointments in Metro Manila.
Meanwhile, Yap, the SEAIR’s vice president for flight operations, said that after the inaugural flight of the Dornier 328 last Friday, regular flights of the aircraft will resume immediately.
“The regular flights schedule of Dornier 328 from Manila to Vigan City and vice versa are Fridays and Sundays. The aircraft will depart at Terminal 1 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 2:30 in the afternoon and will arrive at about 3:30 in the afternoon at Vigan airport; and the plane will go back to Manila at 4:30 in the afternoon,” he explained.
With regards to the plane’s fare rate, Yap said that a one-way plane ticket is fixed to P2,500.00 and each passenger is allowed to have a check–in baggage weighing not more than 10 kilograms aside from the hand-carry luggage.
“Our fare’s rate is very cheap comparing to other air companies in the country because their rates vary depending on the time of flight’s booking. Since this is a first time that we have our flights in Vigan, we offered fixed fare’s rate either for a walk-in passenger/s or passengers who made their flight’s reservation ahead,” he said.
“Our ticketing office in Vigan City is located at the Vigan Plaza Hotel while in Manila, it is situated at Arnaiz Street Corner Makati Avenue in Makati City. For online booking, anyone can log on to www.flyseair.com,” he added.
According to Yap, the domestic flights of SEAIR in Vigan airport will open opportunities for economic growth and tourism development in the province.
Also, he emphasized that the creation of said flights in the area will help in promoting the beauty and the well–preserved rich and unique cultures and traditions of UNESCO’s World Heritage City of Vigan. (Source : PIA1/Ilocos Sur)
