Ormond Hotels Debuts Its First Boutique Property, The Chow Kit, In Kuala Lumpur For 2020
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia — Yet another newest addition in the Chow Kit neighborhood located at the heart of the old Kuala Lumpur is an Ormond Hotel named The Chow Kit (hotel info) has opened its doors to the public.
The Chow Kit boasts 113 rooms and suites. This hotel is deemed the first property of Osmond Hotels in Kuala Lumpur.
Aimed at contemporary travelers, this property is described as a simplified, luxurious, and new boutique hotel in the place.
It is worth mentioning that it is located just five minutes away from the famous market of Chow Kit.
In terms of its architecture, The Chow Kit is inspired by late-night revelry that lurked in the shadows of the alleys and bars of Chow Kit back in the 1970s and 1980s. This was developed by Studio Tack, a Brooklyn-based design firm.
In fact, it is actually the very first project of Studio Tack in Asia.
What’s great is that this property showcases local materials and reinterprets as well as honors the past, which is reflected in its Art Programme. An array of artworks are featured in the hotel’s guestrooms and public areas. These artworks are created by local artists of Malaysia and other countries in Southeast Asia.
In terms of its design, it boasts a juxtaposition of modern design along with Malaysian culture without compromising the location, service, and amenities.
The hotel’s guestrooms are fitted with a smart TV, open wardrobe and desk space, a self-pickup room service concept and bespoke toiletries.
Its lobby looks romantic and inviting. It touts textiles and fabrics that would have traded from the Old Chow Kit. That’s not all, it comes with layered rugs, lounge chairs, and tufted banquets.
It houses The Chow Kit Kitchen that is inspired by local Malaysian Kopitiams, traditional cafes. This is situated on the hotel’s ground floor and is open all-day. Plus, it offers a la carte breakfast.
