What makes a really good burger?

I am no Burger expert but for me, it’s the juiciness of the patty when I bite into the burger. It’s also the combination of all flavors that start to dance inside my mouth. For me, that’s what every burger should be like, not some flat, bland meat stuffed in between two buns.

When I heard about Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, I thought I’d try out their offerings. So I headed to Greenbelt 3 to check out their branch. I didn’t expect much though because I don’t want to be let down. In fact, I thought to myself that this could be another overtweeted, overfacebooked and over-instagramed foreign burger joint. And boy was I happy to find out that I was totally wrong about them.

Heres a little bit of Trivia. Teddy’s Bigger Burgers is a company that hailed from Hawaii, and you could see that in their interiors. The place has a modern feel to it though.

One of the things that make this burger joint a cut above the rest is their mind-blowing array of choices, from the size of the patty to the sauce you want with it. But don’t worry, there are pre-set toppings to choose from, like Hawaiian, Kailua and Cajun. They will also cook your patty medium rare if you want. I tried their Aiea Burger that has a double 5oz medium grilled patties, bacon, mushroom and Swiss cheese.

Now, because this is not a fast food, your burger will be cooked upon order. But as soon as you start smelling the sweet, smoky aroma of the your burger, you could literally forget all your troubles. The patty is made of ground chuck that’s flown from the US to ensure consistent quality in their burgers. Aside from the meat being tender and juicy, another thing that makes Teddy’s Bigger Burgers way better is the bun – it’s made of potato, so it’s that slightly sweet, soft dough.

The special sauce in the Aiea Burger is an entirely different story. It lingers in your mouth and entices you take another bite right after the other yet makes you want to savor every flavor. And when I paired it with a strawberry and peanut butter milkshake, I could almost get lost in the moment.

What’s my overall verdict?

I’d say Teddy’s lives up to their tagline “Bigger, Better Burgers.” I have never tried burgers that are so delicious and so mouth-watering that you’ll start planning your next trip there as you take another bite of your burger. So yes, I will definitely recommend Teddy’s Bigger Burgers to anyone.
