Are you into travelling? Are you the type of person who loves history, or just plain having fun visiting other places?
Full view of church
Philippines is known for a lot of beautiful destinations to go to with its 7,107 islands and three geological areas, namely, Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon.
Facade of the church
In the Southern most part of the province of Batangas in Luzon, the Filipinos have the 2nd largest municipality of San Juan to be proud of. Here, you will find the clannish and old-fashioned town of San Juan. It is located 43 kilometers east of Batangas City, the province’s capitol and at the same distance, southwest of Lucena City, Quezon Province’s capitol.
Interior of the church
This town boasts of its beautiful long, sandy beaches, old houses, and at the very heart of the town itself, you will find the old San Juan de Nepomuceno Church, which is very rich in history.
Joseph Marello statue
In one of my travels, I came across with this historical church. The stone brick texture of the façade of the church has this aged sensation. The grass/moss hanging on every edge of the church made it seem like it has been decades ago since this church was built. The church with its Patron Saint, San Juan de Nepomuceno, has a very rich history since the 1890’s.
Despite of its aged look, the interior of this church is quite modernized. Still, you will find that the original chandeliers and religious icons are still intact and are presently being used.

The Plaza taken from the inside of the church
Right in front of the church is a fenced religious garden where you can leave your prayers. In there, you can see the statue of St. Joseph Marello, the Virgin Mary and St. Joseph carrying Jesus Christ.
After visiting the church, you may opt to go around the municipality and check out its various old houses (some were renovated and some were unfortunately left behind to waste away due to old age and non-occupancy) or maybe you’d like to visit Laiya’s sandy beaches and witness the beautiful sunset.
