2022 Macau Travel Requirements and Tourism Protocols for Tourists
Macau continues with its strict travel requirements, requesting multiple tests and proof of vaccination from travelers entering the country. COVID-19 infections in Macau are at their peak. The highest daily average reported is 47 new infections reported daily.

The United States Bureau of Consular Affairs has stated on their website to “Reconsider travel to Macau due to COVID-19-related restrictions,” putting Macau in Travel Advisory Level 3: Reconsider Travel. Entry to Macau is not allowed.
List of Travelers Allowed to Enter
- Residents of Macau, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan region from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, provided that they did not visit other countries in the last twenty-one (21) days
- Travelers of foreign nationality are not allowed to enter Macau but may apply for exemption in certain exceptional cases (via gov.mo/en/article/covid19/exemption)
List of Macau Travel Requirements
- Three (3) Negative RT-PCR Test Results from any DOH-accredited laboratories were released within seven (7) days, each taken at least twenty-four (24) hours apart. The third (3rd) test must not exceed seventy-two (72) hours prior to boarding.
- Proof of Negative IgM serum antibody test valid within twenty-four (24) hours from any DOH-accredited laboratories prior to boarding or;
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate
- Must be at least fourteen (14) days since the last dose
- Travelers aged 12 and above are required to be fully vaccinated

- For Domestic Helpers
- Entry Permit or Non-resident Worker’s Identity Card (for Domestic Helpers)
- A valid QR code issued by Macao Health Bureau (for Domestic Helpers)
List of Quarantine Requirements
- All travelers must undergo fourteen (14) days of medical observation in a designated facility and an additional fourteen (14) days of health self-management period.
- Visitors from the Philippines will need to quarantine for twenty-eight (28) days upon entering Macau.
Note per International Air Transport Association:
As of June 23, 2022
- Entry by foreign nationals holding a visa is suspended
- This does not apply to the following:
- Foreign nationals with a Visa issued after March 28, 2020
- Foreign nationals with a Diplomatic, Service, Courtesy, or C visa
- This does not apply to the following:
- Entry by foreign nationals with a residence permit with the purpose of “study” is suspended
- Entry by foreign nationals with an APEC Business Travel Card is suspended
- Port visas, 24/72/144-hour visa-free transit policy, Hainan 30-day visa-free policy, 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups from Hong Kong or Macao SR, and Guangxi 15-day visa-free policy specified for foreign tour groups of ASEAN countries are suspended
Note per Macau Government Tourism Office:
- Effective June 23, 2022, a number of leisure facilities will be closed and dine-in service at restaurants and other food and beverage establishments will be banned in order to reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the community
Travel Requirements to Macau
For Residents of Macau: Present printed copies of the following upon check-in.
- The negative nucleic acid test for COVID-19 was conducted within 48 hours before boarding the flight.
- COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate. It must be at least 14 days since the last dose. This is required for all guests at least 12 years old.
- Proof of COVID-19 Booster Vaccine Dose – required for guests who are 18 years old and above, whose last dose of the primary vaccination series was over seven (7) months ago.
- Mandatory centralized isolation for medical observation for 10 days and 7 days of strict health self-management shall apply to fully vaccinate guests with complete requirements. Otherwise, a 14-day centralized medical observation is required.
Aside from the requirements listed above, anyone previously infected with COVID-19 within the last two (2) months will only be allowed to enter Macau SAR for at least 14 days after obtaining three (3) negative COVID-19 Antigen or Nucleic Acid tests, administered at least 24 hours apart.
Non-residents of Macau who are coming from the Philippines will not be allowed to enter. Eligibilities for exemption may apply to the following travel purposes:
- For those traveling to serve Macau’s public interest (i.e., disease control and prevention, emergency rescue, etc.)
- For those exempted by Macau’s local health authorities
