After the huge success of Baguio City’s recent Panagbenga Festival 2014, La Trinidad Benguet just launched the 34th edition of Strawberry Festival. Known as “Strawberry Capital of the Philippines”, La Trinidad Benguet is also producing vegetables and cut flowers.

In 2004, La Trinidad Benguet landed in the Guinness Book of World Records after producing the biggest strawberry cake (21,213.40 pounds) which was baked and served to more than 10,000 guests and visitors.

Today the famous farm in La Trinidad which used to be a flower farm was popularly known as “The Strawberry Farm”. The area became a popular tourist attraction and a famous stopover for people visiting Baguio City and other places in Cordillera Autonomous Region. The Strawberry Farm has souvenir shops that sells, T-shirts, strawberry jams, fresh vegetables and other famous products of Benguet.
At this time of the year, strawberry retail price slid down to P50 to P70 per kilo from the previous P100 to P180 per kilo, brought about by the bumper harvest this summer of more than 2,000 metric tons.
This years Strawberry Festival activities include Strawberry designed Float Parade and Street Dance competition. There will also be cultural presentations as well as trade fairs which will be open daily for the whole month.
