La Loma Lechon Festival 2014

In the Philippines, each celebration will not be complete without having Lechon on the table. Imagine how it looks like in a place that is declared as country’s Lechon Capital. This May 18, 2014, Quezon City will be celebrating their own La Loma Lechon Festival.

La Loma Lechon Festival

As part of the Quezon City Governments tourism efforts, they are now including La Loma as one of City’s major tourism attraction. La Loma Lechon Festival will be featuring colorful parade of roasted pigs or “lechon” dressed in costumes on especially- designed floats.

In this years festival, the festival organizers will be parading more than 20 roasted pigs sponsored by the La Loma Lechoneros Association Inc., neighborhood associations, non-governmental organizations, barangays and other sectoral groups.

Lechon Parade

The Lechon parade will kick off at Calavite St., which is home to some of the country’s famous lechon makers, like PingPing’s Lechon, Mila’s and Lydia’s, to name a few.

After the parade, spectators are invited for the grand Salu-salo in which all roasted pig displayed will be served to the public.

Apart from the La Loma Lechon Festival Lechon Parade, the festival will also have a Street dance competition, culinary competition, dragon-lion dance exhibition and a grand fireworks display.

The Quezon City government will be awarding cash prices to the winning Lechon Float. (Source – PNA)
