Kadayawan Festival 2013 Schedule of Activities

The word Kadayawan comes from a Mandaya word “Madayaw” which means “good, valuable, or beautiful”, the festival showcases Davao’s rich culture, bountiful harvest, thanksgiving for nature and a celebration of life.

Kadayawan Festival is a month long celebration and is usually held in the third week of August during the harvest season of local produce and the blooming Davao’s exotic flowers.

During the Festival, the streets of Davao City are filled with cultural dancers wearing colorful costumes while parading in the assigned festival route.

Some of the activities for Kadayawan Festival 2013 is the famous Pamulak Kadayawan (floral float parade and competition) and the Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan ( Kadayawan Festival Street dancing competition) which are expected to be witnessed by thousands of filipino and foreign tourists. Hiyas sa Kadayawan is also held every year to showcase the ladies of Davao wearing beautiful tribal costumes.

The festival also offers Exhibits and Trade Fairs where tourists can shop for tourism services, local food products, artistically made handicrafts.

Heres the Kadayawan 2013 tentative Schedule of Activities:

August 17, 2013 – Indak-Indak sa Kadalalan – A street dance competition which is participated by different schools, communities, and organization in their colorful tribal costumes and jewels.

August 18, 2013 – Pamulak sa Dalan – This is a colorful floral float parade depicting Davao’s abundant natural resources and rich flora and fauna.
