The start of the year 2020 has been filled with a lot of challenges. Fires and earthquakes plagued some countries, but the worst is the coronavirus disease which affected us globally. Sadly, it has delayed a lot of our plans this year.

But maybe, there is a reason why our plans are suspended. It gave us time to bond with our families and revisit our hobbies. This is also a perfect opportunity to revise our travel plans for the rest of the year.

While waiting for lockdown and travel bans to be lifted, you can check countries that are relatively safe from the coronavirus disease. Based on the list of the 100 Safest Countries in the World for COVID-19 by Fobres.com, the safest country to visit is Switzerland.

If you have been planning to visit Turkey this year, then good news because it is the 37th safest country in the world. As of June 28, 2020, there are 1, 356 cases of coronavirus in Turkey. The cases have been dropping since March of this year and it will probably drop more for the coming months. For now, most countries advise against international flights unless for essential purposes. But when the coronavirus disease cases are significantly reduced, know that it is safe to travel to some places in Turkey.

Based on the latest update on June 29, 2020, the Turkish government has re-opened its international land, sea, and air borders. International commercial flights have also resumed. To ensure safety and health protocols, all passengers arriving in Turkey will be subjected to a medical examination.

Turkey has always been in the Top 10 countries to visit. It has a diverse culture, interesting art, and exotic food. The country is filled with beautiful landscapes and architecture to make your visit worth it. There are also a lot of historical data to be gained from exploring the ruins and beaches of Turkey. Almost 42 million tourists visit Turkey every year due to its historical sites, beaches, and sumptuous food.

While Turkey is a haven for tourists, its historic and cultural diversity has affected its security for the past years. Most countries advise their citizens to avoid some places in Turkey due to terrorism issues. Protests are also occasionally done in Turkey, but these are planned and not a reason for fear. Relatively, it is safe to travel to Turkey as tourism is a big part of Turkey’s economy.

As of September 2019, the US Department of State has issued a Level 2 warning for those who are traveling to Turkey. For Americans, it’s safe to travel to Turkey as long as they do not go near the Syrian and Iraqi borders. Terrorism incidents, skirmish with the Kurdish PKK, and other conflicts occur along the Syrian borders. As a tourist, do not go within 10 kilometers near the borders to be safe.
