Two Branches to Open Soon?

The company already made a long-term lease agreement with the SM Group of Companies. According to Philippine STAR, after the two parties finalized the agreement, there will be two stores to open in Metro Manila soon: the first IKEA store will be at SM Mall of Asia, between the Arena and the SMX Convention Center. This spot is an open parking lot, so constructions might begin soon.

Meanwhile, the second store will be at SM Fairview to serve consumers in Quezon City and those coming from the North. The project is still in development as the Swedish furniture giant is still looking for designers.

Last March 2017, the Swedish Ambassador Harald Fries made a statement during a media roundtable that if IKEA goes to the Philippines, Filipinos will find great opportunities to find work like other countries in Asia.

If (IKEA) goes to the Philippines, like it has gone in other countries, there would be great opportunities for Filipinos to find work and there would be an investment in putting up stores. I won’t be surprised that once they have set their camp here, they’ll be looking for local manufacturing. I think that would be wonderful and interesting for the Philippines.

IKEA sells ready-to-assemble furniture, home accessories, and kitchen appliances. The furniture giant is known for its modern styles and eco-friendly simplicity. Not only that, but people also enjoy the meatballs, hot dogs, and other delicacies that you can purchase from IKEA Restaurant.
