How to get to Kelantan in Malaysia

Kelantan is a beautiful state in Malaysia that is now increasingly becoming popular as a tourist destination for visitors from all across the globe. This place welcomes visitors with amazing views of the beautiful beaches along the South China Sea. It is a destination where people can find the extravagance of nature. The three most preferred travel mediums include air, rail, and road. Visitors can rent a car, hire a taxi ( if you have a budget), or travel by bus according to their interests.

Kelantan is famous for its markets which are also known as open markets. Travelers can purchase a variety of food items and fruits from the selection displayed in the market.  Visitors will be surprised to see that the majority of traders in Kelantan are women. Women in this place are known for their business skills. Other places to visit other than the market include the Royal Museum, where the memorabilia of former Sultans are on display. Some of the items in the museum include silverware, bedroom items, and furniture. Visitors can also see the photos of the royal families displayed at the museum.

Kelantan has several low-budget accommodations, including hotels and motels. Resorts are also available in some beach areas. Some of the beautiful beaches to visit for the tourists are Cahaya Bulan beach, Pantai Bisikan Bayu and Pantai Irama. Kelantan is also famous for its handicrafts, including wood carvings and silverware. Visitors can purchase exclusive handicrafts by visiting Handicraft Village and Craft Museum. Songket, which is the conventional Malay cloth woven with silk or cotton threads by hand, can be found there. The cloth’s aesthetic beauty will surely mark a visitor’s mind.

Travel by Air

Daily flights are available from important Malaysian cities such as Penang, Johor Bahru, and Kuala Lumpur.  The country’s national airline ‘Malaysia Airlines’ offers uninterrupted daily flight services to Kelantan. This gives a wider choice for tourists looking for direct flights to Kelantan.

Travel by Road

Kelantan has excellent road connectivity to major cities in Malaysia. Travelers can get a taxi from Kuala Lumpur and will have to travel along the Karak highway to Kuantan in Pahang. It is a three-hour journey by road to reach Kuantan. From Kuantan, there is a direct road linking to Kelantan in Kota Bahru. During the travel, tourists can enjoy the picturesque beauty of the villages and beaches while passing along the South China Sea.

Travelers heading to Kelantan from Penang will have to take the road through Sungai Petani in Kedah and then travel along the scenic highway towards Jeli in Kelantan. Travelers can also choose regular air-conditioned bus services, which are available from Kuala Lumpur and Kota Bahru towards Kelantan. Taxi services are also available, which accommodate a maximum of four passengers.

From Kuala Lumpur, you can take an MRT ride to PWTC, and from there, you can walk to the Bus Terminal going to Kota Bahru.

Travel by Rail

Kelantan also has good rail connectivity. There are a number of trains that depart from Kelantan to major towns in Peninsular Malaysia and even right up to Singapore. There is a greater possibility that train schedules will be altered at short notice periods.
