DOT, malls to launch first Philippine Fun Sale in March 2020
Manila, Philippines — In a bid to promote the Philippines as an emerging shopping hub in Asia, the Philippine Department of Tourism along with major malls in the entire country joined forces to launch the nationwide shopping sale this coming March 2020.
The target is to attract those who call themselves shopaholics that come from China as well as other Asian countries.
DOT Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said this “Philippine Fun Sale” would be the very first of its kind in the country.
“By March, we will have the first Philippine Fun Sale, for the first time, all malls will hold a sale at the same time,” said Secretary Puyat, as reported by the Philippine Information Agency.
On top of that, DOT Assistant Secretary Howard Lance Uyking said this nationwide shopping sale is akin to the Hong Kong’s Summer Sale as well as the Great Singapore Sale.
Uyking further said that what makes the Philippine Fun Sale different from the two events is that it will reflect the country’s image of fiesta and fun. Plus, the sale is not only concentrated in one city like that in Hong Kong and Singapore as the country is an archipelago.
“More than the arrivals, this whole event is really for the revenue so we’re in the talks to set the revenue target that will be brought about by this sale,” he added.
Moreover, he said that starting early next year, the government is going to promote this nationwide event abroad through a multitude of campaigns.
Among the malls that have confirmed to participate in this event include Ayala Malls, SM, Vista Land, Megaworld, Stores Specialists, Inc., Robinsons, Power Plant, Shangri-La Plaza, The Araneta Group, and Ortigas & Company.
Note that shopping is among the 10 products that are included in DOT’s National Tourism Development Plan of 2016-2022.
So, are you excited for this upcoming event across the country? It’s time to save money as early as today.
