Culinary Marvel Buhay Carinderia Redefined Begins
Every ‘Juan’ knows that there’s always a carinderia that can fill up your tummy good. The whole Philippines is peppered with carinderia stalls that it has become a part of the country’s culinary scene.
It’s an advocacy of Marylindbert International, Inc. to guide entrepreneurs to market their cooking prowess to more people. They started the advocacy in 2011 which was initially called Carinderia Fiesta and was later renamed Buhay Carinderia (FB Page). It’s also their aim to recapture the good image of carinderia.
“Generous portions, Affordable prices, short waits, and sumptuous dishes. Is it any wonder that carinderias are continuously growing everywhere in the country?” Linda Legaspi of Marylindbert International, Inc. said.
She added that “Buhay Carinderia… Redefined” will be extensive on the event’s 6th stage.
This year’s event is made more special since it’s the first time the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) will get involve. Cesar Montano, COO of TPB is thrilled with this partnership.
Erwan Heusaff Jumps in the Band Wagon
Erwan is a popular restaurateur and bar owner. He’s also a sought-after social media influencer. This year’s organizers noticed Erwan when he opened a one-day-only pop-up carinderia last year to introduce his new online game to the public.
Erwan promotes healthy and affordable eating and local citizens admired him when he came up with Php150/day meal plan to show that you don’t have to spend a fortune if you eat local. He even produced Origins (a show) which talked about the 8 provincial areas of the country.
Carinderia Food Tour Across The Philippines
These provinces of Northern Luzon which includes 15 provinces of Region 1 and 2 plus the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) are the first areas they’ll visit.
They will hold an assembly at the Vigan Convention Center on June 28 and 29. Fortunate students will attend and learn the ins and outs of the carinderia business through mentoring partnerships. There will be a handful of topics to be discussed like skills, experiences, availability of local ingredients, etc.
Central Luzon (especially culinary province Pampanga), Bicol Region, Visayas Region (6,7 and 8) and Mindanao Region (9, 10, 11, 12 and 13) will be visited in the same manner with Northern Luzon. A 2 Day concluding event will also be conducted in San Fernando, Pampanga; Naga, Cebu and Davao City.
“To cap off this nine-month-long culinary journey all over the Philippines, ‘Buhay Carinderia… Redefined’ will stage its biggest culinary exposition in November where all the regional bests under one roof will be showcased. There will be an exchange of knowledge and with the experts and most successful personalities we will invite, we will be honing if not refine previously undiscovered talents from the audience,” Legaspi concluded.
