Boracay Island was named the Second Top Beach Destination in the World for 2011 by travel website TripAdvisor

It’s expected but I’m still happy that Boracay Island was recognized again by TripAdvior (http://www.tripadvisor.com/TCBeaches) by including the island in their top beach destinations list. Second place isn’t terrible, in fact being included as one of the Top Ten is already a great recognition for our beautiful Boracay Island.

Boracay - Best Beach in the World
Boracay – Best Beach in the World

With the gorgeous White Beach and secluded Balinghai Beach, Boracay did come in second place among those who voted and that really does count for something. It means that the tourism industry in the Philippines is more robust than ever before with our perfect waters, gorgeous sunsets, and of course the great food and warm people.

Of course, if you want to see Boracay without the crowds, you will have to go during the rainy season and you won’t see many people at all. Don’t worry, you won’t find closed resorts because everything is operational even during the lean season.

All of the winners were selected from the millions and millions of ratings and reviews which were submitted to TripAdvisor over the year. It’s just the right time to let winter weary travelers know about the joys of the world’s best beaches. TripAdvisor said on their website “To provide inspiration on where to go, we’ve named some amazing hot spots around the world, based on millions of real and unbiased reviews and opinions from TripAdvisor travelers.”

The winners were:
1. Providenciales, Turks and Caicos;
2. Boracay, Philippines;
3. Palm/Eagle Beach, Aruba;
4. Negril, Jamaica;
5. Tulum, Mexico;
6. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina;
7. Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman;
8. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic;
9. Cape May, New Jersey, and
10. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica.
