A major water sports event will be splashing the Philippines on January 2016. Seen as the fastest rising water sports in the world, kiteboarding will be competitively performed by local and international riders in the beautiful province of Palawan!

From January 7 to 20, 30 of the best men and women kiteboarders in the world will be meeting in Puerto Princesa, Palawan to compete for the Blue Palawan Kiteboard Open 2016. This will be the first kiteboarding competition in Palawan, in the Philippines, and in Asia! So, expect tourists to flock to the sparkling beaches of the Palawan paradise to watch their favorite players outfly one another. And that’s why you should be there!

Some of the international riders who would participate in the Blue Palawan Kiteboard Open include Colleen Carrol, 3x Triple-S World champion; Craig Cunnighmam and Tom Court, both from North Kiteboarding; Sensi Graves, Sensi Graves Bikinis / Liquid Force; and Brandon Scheid, Liquid Force.

This is something that you should definitely not miss out! Just being in a world class kiteboard park  and watching the participants compete against one another are already more than enough to excited about this event!

If you’ve already booked for Palawan, but your schedule is one week prior the said date, you can still have fun while you observe twenty (20) international kiteboarders, together with Toby Bromwich from the PKRA world tour, film videos, take photos, and upload them on their social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube).

The other countries who will be fielding their best players include Germany, Australia, Poland, Spain, Russia, France, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Canada, Estonia, Iran, Japan, and Thailand. Of course, our country, the host, will bring out our best of the best representatives!

Besides watching the participants, you can also join the coolest water sports! Learn much about kiteboarding through lessons and seminars that will be made available during week 1 of the two-week international competition.

Kiteboarding is the newest sport in the Olympics. It’s the second most popular water sports just next to surfing. It’s world-wide popularity has been going up by an average of 150% in the past three years. The company behind the first kiteboard park in Asia, which is located in front of Blue Palawan Beach Club, will be inaugurated by Blue Kiteboarding, Inc.

The designer of the park, the features of which are 100% manufactured in Oregon, is no other than world-renowned designer Joby Cook. Blue Palawan Beach Club,  the latest boutique hotel in Puerto Princesa, is one of the highest rated resorts in and It is the only white sand beach front resort that’s just 10 minutes away from the city.
