6 Reasons Why I love Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay

Reasons Why I love Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay

(Tagaytay City, Philippines) Taal Volcano is one of the Philippines’ most iconic sights. Besides the mind-blowing fact that it houses a lake and an island inside a volcano that is within the lake, this natural wonder is also known internationally for being the world’s smallest active volcano.

It, therefore, goes without saying that seeing the volcano up front is an experience of a lifetime. But having the landmark as a view from your hotel room’s veranda is another thing altogether.

I was lucky enough to be invited along with fellow travel writers to see the beautiful Taal Volcano through the windows of Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay (hotel info).

The hotel has been open since 1939 and has been wowing guests from all corners of the world with its breathtaking view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano from afar. The management decided to refurbish the Ridge Rooms of the Hotel, and I was one of the first guests to step foot on the renewed mansion-type hotel.

Early Morning Walk

Getting an early access to the Ridge Rooms of Taal Vista Hotel was spectacular. And I would love to write a long list of reasons why Taal Vista is my favorite hotel in Tagaytay, but I shortened it into six. Here are reasons why I love Taal Vista Hotel in Tagaytay:

1. I got a fantastic view of Taal Lake.

Let me get straight to the point: the hotel’s vista is just one of a kind. At just a mere five kilometers away from Taal Lake, you can get a front row seat of the little volcano from afar. The cool climate of Tagaytay further complements to the view.

My room was served as my observation deck during my stay. I will tell you more about my room below.

2. The buffet breakfast and lunch at the Veranda Restaurant was simply magical.

They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. And as a foodie, my entire soul very much agrees with this—as with any meal of the day! Veranda Restaurant, one of the two restaurants in the hotel, agrees, too. This restaurant makes Filipino meals more spectacular with the naturally beautiful ambiance of Tagaytay. The festive ambiance of this restaurant is something that you can’t find anywhere else.

I especially loved their complete selections of kakanin and freshly baked goods in the morning, which went well with my freshly brewed cup of coffee. For lunch, I had a taste of their signature cooked ham and freshly roasted Lechon, which were accompanied by a cultural presentation of a dance group from Cavite. One word to describe this experience? Magical.

3. More fresh food at Taza Restaurant.

If Veranda prepares classic Filipino cuisine, Taza restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine.

Taza Fresh Table is known for its farm-to-table preparation of food, so on top of the already-delicious combination of Mediterranean spices is the guarantee of having freshly sourced ingredients like a cherry on top.

Tomahawk Steak at Taza

We had their signature Tomahawk Steak which could easily feed five people because of its massive size. The meat was perfectly cooked so it is still moist and flavorful inside, and the pesto, cauliflower mash, and caramelized onions garnish made the dish beyond a foodie like me could explain anymore.

We also had more of their dishes, like Homemade Bacon, which is actually more than just your ordinary slice of bacon. The restaurant actually smokes their own pork belly slices with mango tree wood chips, which gave the dish a distinct taste and aroma.

4. Exclusive and express entrance to Sky Ranch.

Sky Ranch Tagaytay

Guests of Taal Vista Hotel have the option to visit Sky Ranch Tagaytay, the newest addition to the hotel property. Calling it an option is an understatement. I would consider visiting the Sky Ranch as a requirement, a must-do while at the hotel that offers fantastic views of one of the most famous volcanos in the world.

5. My room was fit for a king.

I was fortunate enough to have my room in one of the newly renovated Ridge Rooms. This room type is known for its huge private balcony (it was sized up to 45 square meters!) that gives an unobstructed view of the world-famous volcano just kilometers away.

Besides the spacious veranda, my room was complete with amenities, like a safety deposit box, clothes hangers, cotton robes and bedroom slippers, and even a flat iron, among many others.

My huge and soft bed had a wide LCD TV right across it, but I did not have much use for the television since my view of Taal Volcano was more than I could ask for.

6. Their service was one of a kind.

As a Filipino, being hospitable has been a custom for myself. The staff of Taal Vista Hotel, however, redefines Filipino hospitality altogether.

During my stay, I felt that the staff were genuinely concerned in addressing my needs. The butler at the main entrance who helped us carry our things and even open the door for us was just one proof of their one of a kind, dedicated service.

Outside my room at Taal Vista

Like all of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in, checking out was as easy as checking in…although I must say, I almost did not want to leave. The hotel was definitely spectacular from the first day to the last, and I did not want to check out! TBH!
