Land Yachting
These two words may seem odd when put together, but New Zealand has invented an activity that is extremely unique. Based in the open black sand area of Muriwai Beach on the west coast of the city, you can board your Blokart and with the assistance of the winds that blow across the dunes, float a few centimeters above the floor.
The Blokarts are simple to use with just two controls to master, and once you have, do not be surprised to find yourself flying off on two wheels! Once you have the hang of driving the Blokarts, you can give the natural sand race track a go and see if you can beat the times set on the leader boards.
Canyoning
Hidden away by the forests that surround Auckland’s west coast beaches, the Blue Canyon is home to a progression of cascades and natural swimming pools which give visitors the opportunity of taking on the challenge of abseiling down a 25-meter waterfall!
To get to the waterfall, however, you must first get past the cascades, with each one requiring a different technique. One of the other amazing things about this canyoning experience is the natural ambiance of birdsong playing around you as you descend closer to the bottom.
