Crete, Greece — If you’re planning a Crete holiday this year or next then you are in for a real treat. The island boasts some of the best beaches anywhere in the Mediterranean and there is generally a huge amount to pique the interest of tourists regardless of what kind of holiday pursuits they might find most appealing.

If you’re heading to Crete with a view to enjoying the energy and excess of some of the island’s nightlife hotspots then you are likely planning a trip to Malia. The town is renowned across Europe as a great place to party. But if you’re more interested in some more leisurely activities, like a gentle stroll or a look around some centuries-old ruins then you’ll have plenty to go at as well.

Whatever you’re aims in setting off for Greece’s largest and most southerly island, you would be well advised to check out some of the local restaurants, where the food tends to be extremely fresh and the cuisine, in general, is extraordinarily tasty. You will also want to pack some suitable sunscreen as well because the weather in the summer months spends most of its time being little less than scorching.

Part of the charm of Crete, aside from the excellent nightlife and great restaurants, is the sense of timelessness about the place. The island’s sleepy former fishing towns are amazing places to spend time and if you manage to muster the energy there are few more pleasant parts of the world to go for a walk, particularly if you’re lucky enough to be traveling with your loved ones.

And if you’re still hoping to grab a bargain on a trip to Crete, you’ll be glad to know there are some seriously cheap package holidays available to the island available online right now.
